Where did all the Open Minds Forum members go?

With Open Minds Forum restored now for almost half a year at it's new location with forumotion.com we can now turn to look at reaching out to OMF's original members who have not yet returned home. OMF's original membership was over 6,000 members strong, prior to the proboards suspension, according to the rolls of the time. We can probably safely assume that some of those accounts were unidentified socks. If we were to assume a reasonable guess of maybe as many as 30% possible sock accounts then that would leave potentially somewhere between 4800 to 4900 possible real members to locate. That is still a substantial number of people.

Who were all these people? Some were average individuals with common interests in ufology, exopolitics, globalism, corruption, earthchanges, science and technology, and a variety of other interests. Some just enjoyed being part of a vibrant and unusually interesting community. Others were representative of various insider groups participating in observation and outreach projects, while still others were bonafide intelligence community personnel. All with stake in the hunt for truth in one fashion or another. Some in support of truth, and communication. Others seeking real disclosure and forms of proof. And others highly skeptical of anything or limited subjects. The smallest division of membership being wholly anti-disclosure oriented.

So where did these members vanish to? They had many options. There are almost innumerable other forums out there on the topics of UFO's or Exopolitics, the Unexplained, and Conspiracy Theory. Did they disappear into the world-wide network of forum inhabitants? Did some go find new homes on chatrooms or individual blogs? Did they participate in ufo conventions or other public events and gatherings? How about those who represented groups in special access? Or IC and military observers? Those with academic affiliations? Where did they all go and what would be the best way to reach out and extend an invitation to return?

And what constitutes a situation deserving of their time and participation? Is the archive enough? How exactly do people within the paradigm most desire to define a community? Is it amenities, humanity or simply population size for exposure? Most of the special guests have been emailed and have expressed that population size for exposure is what most motivates them. But not all. Long-time member Dan Smith has other priorities and values motivating his participation. Should this open opportunities for unattached junior guests who have experience and dialog to contribute to the world? How best to make use of OMF's time, experience and resources?

Many skeptics would like to see the historical guardian of discourse opportunity to just up and disappear; go into permanent stasis. They think that not everyone has a right to speak about their experiences and if there is no proof involved then there can philosophically be no value to discourse. I personally would respectfully disagree with them. Discourse has always been the prelude to meaningful relationships and meaningful mutual relationships have always been the prelude to exchanges of proof. In a contentious social environment with regards to communication vs disclosure how do we best re-establish a haven for those preludes? Is it only the "if we build it they will come" answer? Well considering OMF has been largely fully functional over the last four or five months this line of reasoning is not necessarily true. So what would be the best way re-establish this? Your suggestions are sought. Please comment.

The beginning or end of the three realms, the existence or nonexistence of anything, depends on the mind. This applies to everything, even to such inanimate objects as rocks and sticks.

    Whoever knows that the mind is a fiction and devoid of anything real knows that his own mind neither exists nor doesn’t exist. Mortals keep creating the mind, claiming it exists. And arhats keep negating the mind, claiming it doesn’t exist. But bodhisattvas and buddhas neither create nor negate the mind. This is what’s meant by the mind that neither exists nor doesn’t exist.     When the mortal mind appears, buddhahood disappears. When the mortal mind disappears, buddhahood appears. When the mind appears, reality disappears. When the mind disappears, reality appears.     This isn't just a jesus thing. I think the most interesting version of this sacrifice and rebirth is the Orphic theology and the Mysteries of Dionysus. Or even Odin's self sacrifice where he sees the plurality as the Runic mysteries.

    Are you suggesting that smelly is an agent of Discordianism?  

    How could you?  smelly is just a smelly goat.  

    smelly is a crypto ontologist, of the Hegelian variety.  

    The modern western mind labors under the illusion of an ordained order.  Mainstream Christianity and the secular establishment are the upholders of this worldview.  

    smelly is the necessary bridge from modernism to apocalypticism.  

    smelly is trying, somewhat desperately, to immanentize the Eschaton.  Aren’t you smelly?  

    I am also an immanentizer....... but of a decidedly different flavor...... where smelly denies, I embrace.  

    If modernism is the thesis, smelly is the Antithesis.  We can never get to the Synthesis without first embracing the Antithesis and the smelly goat that come along with it.  

    We must learn to love smelly, with all our hearts and all our minds.  

    Of course, I am oversimplifying.  

    In his more recent posts, smelly is trying to steal my Synthesis..... crypto ontologist that he is.  

    The Buddhists and Hindus love to argue about Atman..... the soul, and while they’re busy arguing, the Muslims love to come in and blow them both up, thereby Making Allah Great Again.  

    smelly and I have a better plan....... Synthesis..... don’t we, smelly?  

    Admittedly, smelly is a reluctant synthesizer...... he’s an inveterate foot dragger.   Me.....?  I guess I’m Footloose and fancy free.  

    smelly understands that our Quantum Souls can be dead and alive at the same time....... atman/anatta.   We accomplish this feat by means of Brahman/Nirvana........ don’t we, smelly?  

    Metta is the synthesis that both smelly and I are after.

    F2B interview of Rizwan Virk on his new book the simulation hypothesis. Different angle on immaterialism. Interesting to entertain the possibility that we are in an immaterial simulation embedded within a bigger(immaterial) reality. Being another layer removed from "ultimate" (immaterial) "reality" makes direct observation much less useful for probing "ultimate reality". He talks about how quantum mechanics works alot like a video game, that reality is rendered in real-time as it is observed, similar to video games, as it is more efficient in terms of computing power, and the planks constant as a correlary to pixel size....

    It’s how we transform Kurzweil’s technological singularity into a Meta metta.  No?  

    It’s Transhumanism on steroids.  

    Transhumanism is another form of Nihilism.  It’s how we transcend our motley selves into Brahman....... with a smidgen of redemption/compassion.  

    I guess we’d have to say that the Source/Telos can be nothing other than compassion...... which is a nod toward process philosophy.  

    What’s so compassionate about banishing us from Eden?  

    How can we lose ourselves before we find ourselves?  

    How can we find ourselves before we lose ourselves?  

    And who’s that guy blocking the door back home?  

    He’s not letting any smelly goats through the Gate.  

    He’s there just to remind us to be careful of what we wish for.  

    What do you wish for smelly......?

    It looks like the Omniscient One is projecting his own self onto Smelly who is an agent of the OMF team of a covert independent espionage agency that works in cahoots with the US military that, in actuality, Smelly wants to escape from (probably into a portal).   But like you Dan, he's a crypto maniac masquerading as an wanna-be philosophical know-it-all though you already have a commanding lead at least in the category of biblical apocalyptic theories.

    Smelly, on the other hand, who is handsome, young and fearless, has a commanding lead in the "cool" department which is something you will never be Dan no matter how hard you try. You are just YOU Dan, a jester from a time gone by before the invention of spray nozzle shower heads.
     
    So when the world is being bombarded by brimstone and hail, massive floods and attacks by monsters of every sort exiting all of those ubiquitous portals that are here, there and everywhere.... , Smelly will be obliviously oblivious to all of that… sunning in a lawn chair in his back yard sipping on a margarita tripping away in a land that's far, far away that’s chock full of frolicking, adorable goats that fart beautiful rainbows where ever they go.
