Where did all the Open Minds Forum members go?

Fri Oct 19, 2012 12:29 pm by Admin

With Open Minds Forum restored now for almost half a year at it's new location with forumotion.com we can now turn to look at reaching out to OMF's original members who have not yet returned home. OMF's original membership was over 6,000 members strong, prior to the proboards suspension, according to the rolls of the time. We can probably safely assume that some of those accounts were unidentified socks. If we were to assume a reasonable guess of maybe as many as 30% possible sock accounts then that would leave potentially somewhere between 4800 to 4900 possible real members to locate. That is still a substantial number of people.

Who were all these people? Some were average individuals with common interests in ufology, exopolitics, globalism, corruption, earthchanges, science and technology, and a variety of other interests. Some just enjoyed being part of a vibrant and unusually interesting community. Others were representative of various insider groups participating in observation and outreach projects, while still others were bonafide intelligence community personnel. All with stake in the hunt for truth in one fashion or another. Some in support of truth, and communication. Others seeking real disclosure and forms of proof. And others highly skeptical of anything or limited subjects. The smallest division of membership being wholly anti-disclosure oriented.

So where did these members vanish to? They had many options. There are almost innumerable other forums out there on the topics of UFO's or Exopolitics, the Unexplained, and Conspiracy Theory. Did they disappear into the world-wide network of forum inhabitants? Did some go find new homes on chatrooms or individual blogs? Did they participate in ufo conventions or other public events and gatherings? How about those who represented groups in special access? Or IC and military observers? Those with academic affiliations? Where did they all go and what would be the best way to reach out and extend an invitation to return?

And what constitutes a situation deserving of their time and participation? Is the archive enough? How exactly do people within the paradigm most desire to define a community? Is it amenities, humanity or simply population size for exposure? Most of the special guests have been emailed and have expressed that population size for exposure is what most motivates them. But not all. Long-time member Dan Smith has other priorities and values motivating his participation. Should this open opportunities for unattached junior guests who have experience and dialog to contribute to the world? How best to make use of OMF's time, experience and resources?

Many skeptics would like to see the historical guardian of discourse opportunity to just up and disappear; go into permanent stasis. They think that not everyone has a right to speak about their experiences and if there is no proof involved then there can philosophically be no value to discourse. I personally would respectfully disagree with them. Discourse has always been the prelude to meaningful relationships and meaningful mutual relationships have always been the prelude to exchanges of proof. In a contentious social environment with regards to communication vs disclosure how do we best re-establish a haven for those preludes? Is it only the "if we build it they will come" answer? Well considering OMF has been largely fully functional over the last four or five months this line of reasoning is not necessarily true. So what would be the best way re-establish this? Your suggestions are sought. Please comment.

Why are we here? - Page 6 Empty Why are we here?

Post by dan Wed Nov 15, 2023 6:56 pm

    First topic message reminder :

(This topic is a continuation of Personalism 102).

Why is there something rather than nothing?

Looking at it statistically, the likelihood of nothing is minuscule compared likelihood of anything.

However, from the perspective of modern cosmology, the Anthropic Principle tells that universes with observers are extremely rare.

But, by whose say so, can an unobservable universe be said to exist?

A related question is what constitutes an observer?

What if any role might sapience play in the act of observation?
    ………

But this first post is a header post…….. so I will continue in the following post…….

    RP,

I don’t believe that we have to push deeper than personhood……. understanding that personhood is necessarily a social phenomenon……. and that we also, necessarily entail a transpersonal dimension.

This latter caveat might be leaving the door open to all sorts of mischief……. yes, it leaves the door open to altered states of consciousness, which necessarily includes our dreams, for instance.

I believe that personalism is necessarily a monism……. ontologically speaking, there is only one person, or only a very small number of closely connected individuals……. yes, such as a trinity.

We are not floating around in space and time…… as atoms are alleged to do.

We all share a conscious and unconscious world.

We come from one Source, and are slated to return to that source, at the completion of our Metanarrative.

    .

John Archibald Wheeler (July 9, 1911 – April 13, 2008) was an American theoretical physicist. He was largely responsible for reviving interest in general relativity in the United States after World War II. Wheeler also worked with Niels Bohr to explain the basic principles of nuclear fission.

I now understand why TF refers to you as the Son of Satan. Your evil is thinly veiled by your persona of feebleness. When I next speak with the Princess and TF, it will be from the perspective of enlightenment.

    Mr T,

I have always paid attention to JAW……. particularly to his understanding that the only real phenomenon is the observed phenomenon.

This puts the multiverse explanation of the Anthropic Principle into an ontological limbo.
    …………

    RP,

Yesterday, I was approaching a cosmic truth, and, then, today I’m Satan’s son.

Maybe those two statements are compatible.

    Do keep us posted!
    ………..

I do believe that personalism is, just by logical reasoning, necessarily monistic in its basic ontology.

Yes, there are 10^10 persons, but we could all be members of the same family….. as if we are all the children of God.

Our particular family does have more than our fair share of feuds, but what families don’t?

And why can’t there be many Gods and many families?

I think the concept of the I Am is pretty basic.

Could there be two I Am’s……. and what would keep them separate and distinguishable……. without a preexisting space/time frame?

I believe in the Yin-Yang, the Trinity, the Olympiad, 10^10 divine persons……. you name it, but these communities bootstrap themselves into a necessarily shared existence.
    ………..

I had another lengthy conversation with FTGM, who has recently taken up allegiance with Hinduism 🕉️…….

He seems to appreciate their infinite cycles, with an always present exit strategy.

What I failed to ask him was his personal preference.

Why saddle yourself with some preexisting cosmology?

Why not go after the best possible?

Evaluating the best possible world behind a Rawlsian veil of ignorance.

Why need we even suppose that we should find ourselves in any other situation?

Nothing else makes even a smidgen of sense.

Nothing else gives any credence to our own (potential) powers of judgment.
    ……….

I’m on a small email list, along with Doug.

The list was drawn up by A Pike, introduced by Ron, who happens to be ardently anti Christian, along with being anti semitic.

    Hardly hardly anyone has responded.

His latest rant is that Jesus never existed, and linking to the following….. http://www.jesusneverexisted.com/

Doug points out that the historical existence of Jesus ought not really matter to a Christian, or even to Jesus freak.

The only point is that Jesus ought to have existed…… and been resurrected.

As is normal for Satan's son, you blog a series of lies intended to mislead your readers. I am sure in this case Ron will respond for himself, for he is ardently Christian, to the point that he is disgusted by your evil lies, the worse of which is your claim to be Jesus, followed by your claim that all people are Jesus, followed by your claim that Jesus is a filthy sinner. Jesus was the Son of God, not the Son of Satan. Four Popes have blessed Ron for his service to God and the Church; and for his constant struggle against evil, principally as manifested by your Father.

    RP,

Wonderful about Ron being blessed by Popes.

I agree that the jguy had to be personified, but perhaps we can do that in retrospect.

We personify God and each other.

    Persons are relational, inter-personal beings.

There is only one, maybe two or three of us, in the end and the beginning.

In this instance, RP could be John Silassen, and John is not a metaphysician…….. well, not quite yet.

One day, very soon, we will all be metaphysicians.

Metaphysicians heal the Cosmos……. by way of healing I love you‍🩹 ourselves.

The professional intellectuals have constructed an enormous balloon 🎈 of knowledge.

This enormous sphere is about to implode……. 🐣

Then all things will be revealed.

Why are we here? - Page 6 Empty Re: Why are we here?

Post by dan Tue Jan 30, 2024 4:34 pm

My key observation relative to ontology is that nothing exists in isolation.

To exist is to relate…… but relate to what?

Ok, here it goes……. everything has to relate to everything!

There cannot be multiple, independent worlds, for instance.

To exist is to transcend space and time, and to transcend any other form of separation or compartmentation.

We have already encountered the question of why there is something rather than nothing……. and come to the conclusion that there must be some minimal form of existence.

Since we are allowed only one, all encompassing ontos, we are quickly nudged towards the notion of a best possible world.

But our world has the appearance of being surrounded by similar worlds, isolated though we may be.

We have sent probes to some of these, nearby, worlds…… and they appear to have every bit as much reality as our own.

Previously, we have discussed the Multiverse, and been skeptical concerning the existence of unobservable universes, granting them the ontic status of Wheeler’s unobseved phenomena.

This would imply that our ontology is necessarily geocentric.

Yet, with all our space probes and astronomical observations, we have, instead, the appearance of a world that is Galilean invariant in all directions and at all distances.

There is no scientific evidence of the Earth 🌎 being afforded any privileged location.

There is no indication that we not, indeed, just lost in space and time, as the existentialists love to proclaim.

However, I remain more than a tad skeptical about the allegation that we have been randomly tossed, quite absurdly, into a meaningless universe.

Nothing renders me more skeptical than the likely existence of portals.

    And what is a portal?

A portal is our bridge to the realm of anomalous phenomena…… to ghosts, Ufos and to other inter dimensional phenomena.

(One thing decidedly lacking in the best possible world is any target for hatred.  Some folks, however, will hardly be deterred!)

Ufologists tend to be quite eclectic concerning ufo 🛸 phenomena.

They show little bias as to whether the phenomenon could be extraterrestrial or ultra-terrestrial……. physical or metaphysical.

My own bias is that it would sure economize on energy and other travel arrangements if we could explore a hyper-dimensional world.

If my eschatology holds, our imminent close encounter with the Omega will steer us into a decidedly metaphysical dimension.

Our energetic and metabolic requirements will be decidedly transformed.

    Here is my thought.

Entering a portal is akin to dreaming.

The imagination is fully engaged to facilitate this.

We do not yet fully realize what the imagination truly is.

    Your key to everything.

One must prepare and learn to calm their mind and emotions.

Because it will likely be a terrifying experience if you have not adequately prepared yourself.

The Neoplatonists and Stoics can help you prepare and step through and into the dream portal.

Preparing to go through the portal is similar to the preparation for the experience of the ancient mysteries.

I believe I have accomplished this many times.

One can enter into a persistent dream state in waking life.

One evidence is you will lose all affiliations to philosophical and political systems.

Your view of religion will dissolve.

You will have an always on internal voice working with you.

    Your mind will speed up.

    Your creativity will explode 🤯

Your heart will open and no hatred can live there.

You will be confronted by the darkest aspects of your psyche and you will have to wrestle with them.

You won’t listen to any other source but the One source and you will see people for what they are.

    They will become transparent.

Your memory will improve and you will remember impossible things to know.

You will journey instantly beyond time and space.

Just one moment of this will wake you up for life.

    There are many other signs.

It’s part of what’s always happening is all.

    Is this personal hacking?

    In a sense, yes.

You must identify and reroute around the system corruption, which is extensive at this time in the human mind.

We are all attacked by and live with mind parasites.

Dan has the princess or have they captured Dan?

I only trust and know myself, which is to know everything and everyone else as myself.

In a world of pretending muppets, this is the best way through.

    Lucid dreaming.

    Why are we here?

    That’s most obvious.

So which is more difficult for the idealist……. explaining the phantasmagoria of the starry sky or the phantasmagoria of the Earth?

Much of what we encounter on Earth, we can blame on each other and on our fellow creatures.

Astronomers blame the sky simply on the Big Bang……. well, along with a generous portion of solar physics, of course.

As a personalist, I suppose that the sky evinces a rhyme and reason that is compatible with our own existence.

This is simply the Anthropic Principle.

The stars are held steadfast in their individual orbits and trajectories.

Behind the near infinite display of the night sky is logic of Mach’s principle……. matter there being equivalent to inertia here, or something like that.

And, of course, the stars and galaxies have precious little reason to not maintain their celestial coordinates, faithfully, for millennia.

And what about back down on Earth?

I don’t think there is any more challenging than human metabolism.

Of course, the biologists figure they have all of that under control, virtually within their grasp.

The biologists have established many datapoints that they display with great satisfaction.

Have they proven, from the basic principles of biophysics that a bumble bee 🐝 can actually fly?

I’m not the only one who is a tad skeptical.

Have they demonstrated how consciousness works?

    Well, not quite, just yet!

Which is more difficult to explain……. lucid dreams or the equivalent waking experience?

As an immaterialist, the difference between various states of consciousness is not always easy to pin down.

    Silly word games.

    Let’s dance!

    💃🪩🕺

    BTW, god is a wabbit.

    Now you know.

    We had dinner.

    Some juicy secrets were revealed.

You won’t believe what happens next!

Why are we here? - Page 6 Img_5711

    You were not invited.

    I am sworn to 🤫

The morons, I mean muppets, are onto you.

BTW, you are wrong about history.

From my view, you are wrong about almost everything.

Anyway, my guess is, the lovely Mrs. Pasulka is a willing dupe, because she is an American, damn it! America 🇺🇸

Hey, I love America, but it’s just an illusion.

Still, lions 🦁 seem real enough to me.

Which is a good counter to idiots who say the world is an illusion.

It doesn’t matter what it is. (This is how TPTB think, how pragmatic)

If you get near a lion, you are likely a kitten treat.

Bullets and knives seem very capable of ending your game.

So whatever the world is, one should watch their step.

This is why I think Dan is wrong about history.

We only see from this moment.

“All history becomes subjective; in other words, there is properly no history; only biography. Every mind must know the whole lesson for itself,--must go over the whole ground. What it does not see, what it does not live, it will not know.” —RWE

My view is the best and only question is how best shall we live.

As Captain Kirk said, our first priority is survival.

Why is there something rather than nothing?

For something to exist, it has to be able to impress itself on something.

Nothing cannot exist, if there’s not something else it can impress…… like you or me.

Then what is the minimal something?

I suggest that our present world is it.

    That seems dubious 🤨 indeed.

There seems to be an awful lot of stuff out there.

Yes, the world seems full of arbitrariness, but the arbitrariness is the simplest, because it seems so natural…… just like it arose spontaneously!

No thought was required!……. until you think about the anthropic principle.

Anthropism is virtually synonymous with personalism.

Was self awareness necessary for existence?

Well, self awareness seems an essential aspect of existence……. there has to be some sort of ontological bootstrap.

Mythically, self awareness is posited with the I Am.

I suggest that the I Am is the seminal logos.

But I also subscribe to Pratityasamutpada…… co-dependent arising.

The I Am can only arise with a twin, as with the yin-yang ☯.

But even though nothing might not be able to exist, I’m not sure that implies that something has to exist.

However, that something would have to be sapient.

That would imply that it would have dreamed up some sort of cosmic situation for itself.

Mere sentience, does not come with its own foundation.

A foundation implies a self awareness that has creation story.

I’m skeptical of virtually every Creation story.

I’m not skeptical of there being a cosmic bootstrap…… of some sort.

Before my own gestalt switch to immaterialism, I visited the Berkeley radiation lab, where both Geoffrey Chew and Henry Stapp were employed.

Geoffrey was into an S-matrix version of the bootstrap…… strictly mathematical.  Henry was into quantum consciousness.

The year probably would have been between leaving UM in ‘77 and reading……

It took me a while to find my personal chronology page……

I went to bestpossibleworld.com …….. then to the Topical Index……

The chronology link is about a third of the way down the TI page at topic 0.6…….. http://bestpossibleworld.com/nexu66.htm#timeline

In 1981 my imagination was captured by Kit Williams  ‘Masquerade’, with its many surreal watercolors.

My immersion into those paintings triggered my gestalt switch to immaterialism.

Since 1977, I had been struggling with trying to wedge the Metanarrative into the conventional Big Bang ❗ cosmology.

The chronology states that it took me, yet another two years, ‘82 and ‘83, to fully embrace the Eschaton.

Once I fully embraced the Eschaton, my intellectual discussions became much too awkward.

After meeting Ron, I revisited three local universities, until I was officially advised to stop 🛑, at each one.  That would have been in ~’95.
    …………

That brings chick 🐣, at least, more or less up to date.

I’m just trying to figure out what is the weakest link in the BPWH.

A fair guess is that it has to with what I refer to as the phased array of our collective consciousness……. that we more commonly refer to as Reality.

My humble suggestion is that the Reality of our collective consciousness is held together by the matrix of our collective unconscious.

This collective matrix is the basis of our geocentric world.

    Yes?

The news from the phased array of the JWST is to take astronomy with just a grain of salt 🧂.
    ………..

I read down to the bottom of the page with the chronology, nexu66, entitled ‘showdown’.

I had forgotten about how much was going on, back in that day, c. 1997.

Ron was keeping the pot stirred, for another decade, until the Princess made her grand entrance, across the street.

It might have been similar to what was going on before I sent my little eschatological note in 1991.

Ron was mainly……. Cat Fish…… Kit G was Trout Fish and Salmoni Iridescence. Gordon Novel was rather active……. etc, etc…….

If anything resembling Disclosure ever comes about, folks will have to parse back through these notes.

Do you think Gordon might have been the umbrella man during the "Big Event"?

    There are rumors.

Please don't be angry with me for just asking.

We're all just conspiracy theorists speculating on a Paranormal forum after all.

    Janus,

I have heard a similar rumor, but I give it very little credence.
    ……..

    RP,

I’m not aware of a Steady State model that does not require considerable extraneous parameters for its maintenance.

If the JWST data does not support the Big Bang model, the entire cosmological enterprise is placed in jeopardy.

Coming up with a physically plausible alternative to the Big Bang might just be bridge too far.

Will physicists have to consider a metaphysical path?

That would be a major upset for modernism.

This would add fuel ⛽ to the Disclosure fire 🔥.

The lack of any concerted response from the physics community is a silence 🤐 that is becoming more palpable by the day.

Even the NYT is trying to keep its powder dry.

Who is going to be the first to raise the white flag of surrender?

This, in addition to the stalling of physics at the LHC, perhaps the well is running dry……. or is it more like a brick wall?
    ………..

It is not easy to get someone to focus on the issue of the best possible world.

A typical response is to allow them ten minutes, and they’ll come up with a better version.

The best possible world would allow for portals.

That seems like cheating, for many of us……. we could just have gold mountains and ice cream 🍦 on the other side.
