Where did all the Open Minds Forum members go?

Fri Oct 19, 2012 12:29 pm by Admin

With Open Minds Forum restored now for almost half a year at it's new location with forumotion.com we can now turn to look at reaching out to OMF's original members who have not yet returned home. OMF's original membership was over 6,000 members strong, prior to the proboards suspension, according to the rolls of the time. We can probably safely assume that some of those accounts were unidentified socks. If we were to assume a reasonable guess of maybe as many as 30% possible sock accounts then that would leave potentially somewhere between 4800 to 4900 possible real members to locate. That is still a substantial number of people.

Who were all these people? Some were average individuals with common interests in ufology, exopolitics, globalism, corruption, earthchanges, science and technology, and a variety of other interests. Some just enjoyed being part of a vibrant and unusually interesting community. Others were representative of various insider groups participating in observation and outreach projects, while still others were bonafide intelligence community personnel. All with stake in the hunt for truth in one fashion or another. Some in support of truth, and communication. Others seeking real disclosure and forms of proof. And others highly skeptical of anything or limited subjects. The smallest division of membership being wholly anti-disclosure oriented.

So where did these members vanish to? They had many options. There are almost innumerable other forums out there on the topics of UFO's or Exopolitics, the Unexplained, and Conspiracy Theory. Did they disappear into the world-wide network of forum inhabitants? Did some go find new homes on chatrooms or individual blogs? Did they participate in ufo conventions or other public events and gatherings? How about those who represented groups in special access? Or IC and military observers? Those with academic affiliations? Where did they all go and what would be the best way to reach out and extend an invitation to return?

And what constitutes a situation deserving of their time and participation? Is the archive enough? How exactly do people within the paradigm most desire to define a community? Is it amenities, humanity or simply population size for exposure? Most of the special guests have been emailed and have expressed that population size for exposure is what most motivates them. But not all. Long-time member Dan Smith has other priorities and values motivating his participation. Should this open opportunities for unattached junior guests who have experience and dialog to contribute to the world? How best to make use of OMF's time, experience and resources?

Many skeptics would like to see the historical guardian of discourse opportunity to just up and disappear; go into permanent stasis. They think that not everyone has a right to speak about their experiences and if there is no proof involved then there can philosophically be no value to discourse. I personally would respectfully disagree with them. Discourse has always been the prelude to meaningful relationships and meaningful mutual relationships have always been the prelude to exchanges of proof. In a contentious social environment with regards to communication vs disclosure how do we best re-establish a haven for those preludes? Is it only the "if we build it they will come" answer? Well considering OMF has been largely fully functional over the last four or five months this line of reasoning is not necessarily true. So what would be the best way re-establish this? Your suggestions are sought. Please comment.

I just wish I knew who invited smelly to the party.

It may just be Turrette’s syndrome that we are dealing with.

It can happen to the best of us.

Smelly goat farts are quite mystical, don’t judge.

I don’t want to debate anyone, there is nothing to debate.

That’s what makes you guys so much fun.

I don't think it's possible… But how is Joe going to participate in the debate from rehab? It's only day seven right?  It was rather cruel to watch the last one... Doug was hoisted by his own pitard and couldn't even tell what was happening about him and poor Joe Poor poor Joe he did not sound good…  it was NOT very cool to toy with him like that .....And with the supposedly most important topic ...being cut off constantly was painfullt embarrassing... it's no wonder he went into rehab shortly after… but out of all the faustian foibles ... it left a clear trail & evidence for others to enjoy far more that the puppeteers!!!

Sometimes… from the constellations… Retirement is not quite retirement.

There is talk about scheduling the next debate for later this afternoon.

My speculation as to who might be the former presidential candidate, in question...... well, it may have been a trick question....... sorry, Wes, you’ll just have to be patient.......

A muppet debate is like two coconuts trying to convince each other they are butterflies.

    The sage debates no one.

In the sage’s mind, all is resolved instantly, like a drop of water hitting a hot plate.

Nothing is held, so nothing is taken, so no conflict can arise.

We are in conflict only over illusions.

That’s so funny, I can’t even stand it.

Because you don’t HAVE to do anything.

This simple wisdom eludes Dan and friends with so much to accomplish.

Very good cw, keep it coming.

    The muppets won’t understand this.

They are stuck in the fly bottle.

Dan, we all are dancing to our own song or we wander with none, but we can all hear it if we want to.

    It's the same song everywhere.

As in the Divine Comedy, people choose their suffering.

No one can really have a problem with what another thinks.

So this is just a reminder from outside the fly jar.

Its seems some of us forgot one of the eight paths to virtue.
Some preach of renunciation, yet flail, fret and blather ... being the very opposite of the message they preach ... you can never be "outside the bottle "....it's clear you are still suffering because we all have much to let go... I do not suggest being the message so much so that like many yogi masters, you fear your breathing & cease walking to cause no harm to even the tiniest life form. Yet, Smelly IS the closest here to "ending all suffering". Good luck Consciousnaut! You found THE path. Kudos...

    Very nice Hobbit. Thank you.

Northern Ireland / Ireland, are masterful at 'sad songs' though we are equally good at laughing at ourselves.

We are though no different than anyone else, anywhere. Everyone and everything suffers and yet, perhaps, no one or nothing has.

Perhaps, it's time for a new story...

And, trust me, sports fans, the rumors are only going to get worse.

Haha, I only ended my own suffering, I really don’t judge anyone else.

    To each his own.

I like to tease, can’t help it.

I can’t help anyone else, I know, I can only push them, tease them and hug them doing not doing.

It’s obvious who is paying attention and who isn’t.

    I only found my reflection.

But really, all are on their own path, I truly believe that.

The Jar is the same metaphor as Plato’s cave.

You prob know PK, there are many states of mind, I feel we should play with them all.

One state of mind may be nirvana to one and Hell to another.

    Shrug.

    Straight on.
