Where did all the Open Minds Forum members go?

Fri Oct 19, 2012 12:29 pm by Admin

With Open Minds Forum restored now for almost half a year at it's new location with forumotion.com we can now turn to look at reaching out to OMF's original members who have not yet returned home. OMF's original membership was over 6,000 members strong, prior to the proboards suspension, according to the rolls of the time. We can probably safely assume that some of those accounts were unidentified socks. If we were to assume a reasonable guess of maybe as many as 30% possible sock accounts then that would leave potentially somewhere between 4800 to 4900 possible real members to locate. That is still a substantial number of people.

Who were all these people? Some were average individuals with common interests in ufology, exopolitics, globalism, corruption, earthchanges, science and technology, and a variety of other interests. Some just enjoyed being part of a vibrant and unusually interesting community. Others were representative of various insider groups participating in observation and outreach projects, while still others were bonafide intelligence community personnel. All with stake in the hunt for truth in one fashion or another. Some in support of truth, and communication. Others seeking real disclosure and forms of proof. And others highly skeptical of anything or limited subjects. The smallest division of membership being wholly anti-disclosure oriented.

So where did these members vanish to? They had many options. There are almost innumerable other forums out there on the topics of UFO's or Exopolitics, the Unexplained, and Conspiracy Theory. Did they disappear into the world-wide network of forum inhabitants? Did some go find new homes on chatrooms or individual blogs? Did they participate in ufo conventions or other public events and gatherings? How about those who represented groups in special access? Or IC and military observers? Those with academic affiliations? Where did they all go and what would be the best way to reach out and extend an invitation to return?

And what constitutes a situation deserving of their time and participation? Is the archive enough? How exactly do people within the paradigm most desire to define a community? Is it amenities, humanity or simply population size for exposure? Most of the special guests have been emailed and have expressed that population size for exposure is what most motivates them. But not all. Long-time member Dan Smith has other priorities and values motivating his participation. Should this open opportunities for unattached junior guests who have experience and dialog to contribute to the world? How best to make use of OMF's time, experience and resources?

Many skeptics would like to see the historical guardian of discourse opportunity to just up and disappear; go into permanent stasis. They think that not everyone has a right to speak about their experiences and if there is no proof involved then there can philosophically be no value to discourse. I personally would respectfully disagree with them. Discourse has always been the prelude to meaningful relationships and meaningful mutual relationships have always been the prelude to exchanges of proof. In a contentious social environment with regards to communication vs disclosure how do we best re-establish a haven for those preludes? Is it only the "if we build it they will come" answer? Well considering OMF has been largely fully functional over the last four or five months this line of reasoning is not necessarily true. So what would be the best way re-establish this? Your suggestions are sought. Please comment.

You stop time with anti-time, anti-gravity, Love, Nun.

You are beyond gravity in the eternal now.

In other dimensions you are beyond limit.

Almost impossible for a created mind to grasp.

Thus, in this dimension, your only chance at happiness is to be carefree in the flow of the eternal now.

There is no solid ground because there is no safe ground as far as we are concerned.

    Wonderland.

    Walk backwards.

Dan's work is an important work. All here were prepared and anointed for this moment from the foundation of the Earth. Dan is the messenger of truth, the truth that is necessary to fulfill all things. All those who are ready will be caught in his net in due time. Lets hope he doesn't fall asleep on the job and let them slip away. Wink

Truth is that which is manifest to each of us in our own time and place from the source of all truth and light.

It is both subjective and objective relative to itself.

Your very statement here is objective truth, that "truth is personal and derived from experience."

That is the same spirit of truth Dan caries the mantle for. The objective truth that truth is subjective.

    Here here jofo and Ack.

    Ack! Ack!

I always think the martians from Mars/Mara Attacks, anyway.

Truth needs no messenger, it is self evident in all its facets, no mind could ever contain Mind or IT.

I have shown that with Dan.

Seemed relevant to our discussion today.

“Frame your thoughts like this—you are an old person, you won’t let yourself be enslaved by this any longer, no longer pulled like a puppet by every impulse, and you’ll stop complaining about your present fortune or dreading the future.”

    —Marcus Aurelius, Meditations, 2.2

We resent the person(s) who comes in and tries to boss us around.

Who do they think they are?!

    Who indeed.

Thank you, I feel better already Wink

    **cough**

Maybe now someone will have some softnezz toward the old sick goat. If you would indulge an old harmlezz goat brothers and sisters of Kairos another moment. A lovely bird whispered this just now in my earz...

“Ananda, the cousin and disciple of Gautam Buddha. He was at Buddha's side constantly, attending to his every need for forty-two years. When Buddha died, the story is told that Ananda was still at his side, weeping. The other disciples chastised him for his misunderstanding: Buddha had died absolutely fulfilled; he should be rejoicing. But Ananda said, "You misunderstand. I'm weeping not for him but for myself, because for all these years I have been constantly at his side but I have still not attained." Ananda stayed awake for the whole night, meditating deeply and feeling his pain and sorrow. By the morning, it is said, he was enlightened. Times of great sorrow have the potential to be times of great transformation. But in order for transformation to happen we must go deep, to the very roots of our pain, and experience it as it is, without blame or self-pity.

This pain is not to make you sad, remember. That's where people go on missing.... This pain is just to make you more alert--because people become alert only when the arrow goes deep into their heart and wounds them. Otherwise they don't become alert. When life is easy, comfortable, convenient, who cares? Who bothers to become alert? When a friend dies, there is a possibility. When your woman leaves you alone--those dark nights, you are lonely. You have loved that woman so much and you have staked all, and then suddenly one day she is gone. Crying in your loneliness, those are the occasions when, if you use them, you can become aware. The arrow is hurting: it can be used. The pain is not to make you miserable, the pain is to make you more aware! And when you are aware, misery disappears.“

All it means to be enlightened is to be able to flow courageously as a Human Being in the world balanced and centered, able to stand with whatever comes inside or outside as witness with no judgements.

    **cough**

    Peace.

I would like to know why some people are intellectually curious and others are not. The ones who are not must live very boring lives.  I think that's your saving grace smelly, being intellectually curious; and that goes for everybody else here too. It's our saving grace. I myself can't imagine what my life would be like without the neverending and unbounded curiosity I have about any given thing that crosses my path at any given moment.  I grew up driving my parents batty with my constant barrage of questions that came up on a daily basis. Although sometimes they found that amusing about me but, more often than not, they also found it extremely annoying too. lol Let's just say that they were absolutely ecstatic when I moved out and went to college. Anyway, back then, of course, there was no internet but I do know one thing though, my own curiosity has brought me much happiness in my life and no matter how bad things get sometimes, solong as I still have the time to focus on whatever I'm interested in at any given moment.... I'm as happy as a lark.

I think each of us in this forum are all birds of the same feather in that regard.
