Where did all the Open Minds Forum members go?

Fri Oct 19, 2012 12:29 pm by Admin

With Open Minds Forum restored now for almost half a year at it's new location with forumotion.com we can now turn to look at reaching out to OMF's original members who have not yet returned home. OMF's original membership was over 6,000 members strong, prior to the proboards suspension, according to the rolls of the time. We can probably safely assume that some of those accounts were unidentified socks. If we were to assume a reasonable guess of maybe as many as 30% possible sock accounts then that would leave potentially somewhere between 4800 to 4900 possible real members to locate. That is still a substantial number of people.

Who were all these people? Some were average individuals with common interests in ufology, exopolitics, globalism, corruption, earthchanges, science and technology, and a variety of other interests. Some just enjoyed being part of a vibrant and unusually interesting community. Others were representative of various insider groups participating in observation and outreach projects, while still others were bonafide intelligence community personnel. All with stake in the hunt for truth in one fashion or another. Some in support of truth, and communication. Others seeking real disclosure and forms of proof. And others highly skeptical of anything or limited subjects. The smallest division of membership being wholly anti-disclosure oriented.

So where did these members vanish to? They had many options. There are almost innumerable other forums out there on the topics of UFO's or Exopolitics, the Unexplained, and Conspiracy Theory. Did they disappear into the world-wide network of forum inhabitants? Did some go find new homes on chatrooms or individual blogs? Did they participate in ufo conventions or other public events and gatherings? How about those who represented groups in special access? Or IC and military observers? Those with academic affiliations? Where did they all go and what would be the best way to reach out and extend an invitation to return?

And what constitutes a situation deserving of their time and participation? Is the archive enough? How exactly do people within the paradigm most desire to define a community? Is it amenities, humanity or simply population size for exposure? Most of the special guests have been emailed and have expressed that population size for exposure is what most motivates them. But not all. Long-time member Dan Smith has other priorities and values motivating his participation. Should this open opportunities for unattached junior guests who have experience and dialog to contribute to the world? How best to make use of OMF's time, experience and resources?

Many skeptics would like to see the historical guardian of discourse opportunity to just up and disappear; go into permanent stasis. They think that not everyone has a right to speak about their experiences and if there is no proof involved then there can philosophically be no value to discourse. I personally would respectfully disagree with them. Discourse has always been the prelude to meaningful relationships and meaningful mutual relationships have always been the prelude to exchanges of proof. In a contentious social environment with regards to communication vs disclosure how do we best re-establish a haven for those preludes? Is it only the "if we build it they will come" answer? Well considering OMF has been largely fully functional over the last four or five months this line of reasoning is not necessarily true. So what would be the best way re-establish this? Your suggestions are sought. Please comment.

All questions come from answers we already have.

We are seeking to only confirm our answers because we fear them wrong.

    They are all wrong.

Dropping all answers seems like an answer.

    Try it.

Think an old monkey is going to let go of their accumulated knowledge and answers?

    Fat chance.

    Here we spin.

I don’t speak or write about what isn’t.

Whatever you can say is, isn’t.

Poetry is about describing the indescribable.

    I haven’t said a word.

Leave these UFO muppets alone smelly.

    Bad goat.

God, I can't do anything with this damn goat these days.

He's like, I have no thought, blah blah blah.

But this is the whole problem for us. Several thousand years ago, human beings devolved the system of self-consciousness, and they knew, they knew.

There was a young man who said
'though it seems that I know that I know,
What I would like to see
Is the I that sees me
When I know that I know that I know.'

And this is the human problem: we know that we know.

And so, there came a point in our evolution where we didn't guide life by distrusting our instincts. Suppose that you could live absolutely spontaneously. You don't make any plans, you just live like you feel like it. And you say 'What a gas that is, I don't have to make any plans, anything. I don't worry; I just do what comes naturally.'

Being natural is such a nice relaxing thing after these last thousands of years of self-consciousness, but there is no one here conscious.

    Not one bit.

Just enjoy the show in silence.

Logos is the crysalis, once you're a butterfly just fly away and never look back.

    Beware those who preach love
    For they hate the most
    You can’t do anything
    You can’t stop doing
    Your ego is imaginary
So persist in your current folly
Take it all the way to the end
You will be right back at the start
    If you persist at
    Whatever you’re doing
You will end up here too
    It’s a double bind
You can’t think your way out
    Have fun doing not doing
    You can’t stop
    Straight on

Son you better be ready for love
    On this glory day
This is your chance to believe
    What I've got to say
Keep your eyes on the sky
Put a dollar in the kitty
    Don't the moon look pretty
Tonight when I chase the dragon
The water may change to cherry wine
And the silver will turn to gold
    Time out of mind
    (Time out of mind)
I am holding the mystical sphere
    It's direct from Lhasa
Where people are rolling in the snow
Far from the world we know
Children we have it right here
It's the light in my eyes
    It's perfection and grace
It's the smile on my face
Tonight when I chase the dragon
The water may change to cherry wine
And the silver will turn to gold
    Time out of mind
    (Time out of mind)
Children we have it right here
It's the light in my eyes
    It's perfection and grace

    Thank you, wk,

Is it possible that we have the best possible smelly?  Perish the thought...... or should we cherish....?

I used to opine that, in the best possible world, imagination might be free.  I’m thinking that I was being a bit naive.  Imagination is a big, maybe biggest, part of our best possible lives.  It too would have to be optimized in the best possible world.

However, the BPW could be wrapped in a band of free will, a kind of quantum zone of randomness, just to keep us on our toes.  Everything in the band would be suboptimal, of course, but such are the trade offs of Creation.

As far as thinking or not thinking...... I doubt we have the freedom to choose.  Admonishing others to not think would seem to be an exercise in futility.

smelly is howling at the moon...... or is it the Monad?

The choice to not think is a first world luxury. Few of us have the luxury of not worrying about our next meal...... or our next baby, for that matter....... praise the Lord, and pass the ammunition.

    (cont.......)

The only one we can love or hate is ourselves.

If you love or hate things, you are projecting.

A fool who is wise, does neither, but they happen.

Doing or happening, that’s the clue.

By the way, the only one asking questions is your imaginary ego.

Dougiepoo is one confused muppet, eh?

But that’s why a goat is here.

    Goats are never confused.

We are blissfully free of thought.

You may have learned though, it’s pointless talking to a goat.

We just talk in pointless circles even a hobbit can see.

Yes Dan, cherish the thought, not perish.

Thought was our best possible crysalis.
