Where did all the Open Minds Forum members go?

Fri Oct 19, 2012 12:29 pm by Admin

With Open Minds Forum restored now for almost half a year at it's new location with forumotion.com we can now turn to look at reaching out to OMF's original members who have not yet returned home. OMF's original membership was over 6,000 members strong, prior to the proboards suspension, according to the rolls of the time. We can probably safely assume that some of those accounts were unidentified socks. If we were to assume a reasonable guess of maybe as many as 30% possible sock accounts then that would leave potentially somewhere between 4800 to 4900 possible real members to locate. That is still a substantial number of people.

Who were all these people? Some were average individuals with common interests in ufology, exopolitics, globalism, corruption, earthchanges, science and technology, and a variety of other interests. Some just enjoyed being part of a vibrant and unusually interesting community. Others were representative of various insider groups participating in observation and outreach projects, while still others were bonafide intelligence community personnel. All with stake in the hunt for truth in one fashion or another. Some in support of truth, and communication. Others seeking real disclosure and forms of proof. And others highly skeptical of anything or limited subjects. The smallest division of membership being wholly anti-disclosure oriented.

So where did these members vanish to? They had many options. There are almost innumerable other forums out there on the topics of UFO's or Exopolitics, the Unexplained, and Conspiracy Theory. Did they disappear into the world-wide network of forum inhabitants? Did some go find new homes on chatrooms or individual blogs? Did they participate in ufo conventions or other public events and gatherings? How about those who represented groups in special access? Or IC and military observers? Those with academic affiliations? Where did they all go and what would be the best way to reach out and extend an invitation to return?

And what constitutes a situation deserving of their time and participation? Is the archive enough? How exactly do people within the paradigm most desire to define a community? Is it amenities, humanity or simply population size for exposure? Most of the special guests have been emailed and have expressed that population size for exposure is what most motivates them. But not all. Long-time member Dan Smith has other priorities and values motivating his participation. Should this open opportunities for unattached junior guests who have experience and dialog to contribute to the world? How best to make use of OMF's time, experience and resources?

Many skeptics would like to see the historical guardian of discourse opportunity to just up and disappear; go into permanent stasis. They think that not everyone has a right to speak about their experiences and if there is no proof involved then there can philosophically be no value to discourse. I personally would respectfully disagree with them. Discourse has always been the prelude to meaningful relationships and meaningful mutual relationships have always been the prelude to exchanges of proof. In a contentious social environment with regards to communication vs disclosure how do we best re-establish a haven for those preludes? Is it only the "if we build it they will come" answer? Well considering OMF has been largely fully functional over the last four or five months this line of reasoning is not necessarily true. So what would be the best way re-establish this? Your suggestions are sought. Please comment.

As a Christian, Leibniz outlined his perfect world theory in his work The Monadology, stating the argument in five parts:

God has the idea of infinitely many universes.
Only one of these universes can actually exist.
God's choices are subject to the principle of sufficient reason, that is, God has reason to choose one thing or another.
    God is good.
Therefore, the universe that God chose to exist is the best of all possible worlds.[1]

The BPW is simply another way to describe yin and yang.

You are enough as you are, oblivious and empty.

    That’s God’s message.

I came to show Dan the Other side of the BPW, living in it!

    Now you know Wink

Put your faith in no person but your Self.

    All else will fail you.

The choice is simply live here as you are or you don’t have to be here.

    Just as treasures
    are uncovered from the earth,
    so virtue appears
    from good deeds,
    and wisdom appears
from a pure and peaceful mind.
To walk safely through the maze
    of human life,
one needs the light of wisdom
and the guidance of virtue. ~ Buddha
If you truly get in touch
    with a piece of carrot,
    you get in touch with
    the soil,
    the rain,
    the sunshine.
You get in touch with Mother Earth
and eating in such a way,
you feel in touch with true life,
    your roots,
    and that is meditation.
If we chew every morsel of our food in that way
    we become grateful
    and when you are grateful,
you are happy. ~ Thich Nhat Hanh
    Infuse your life with action.
Don't wait for it to happen.
    Make it happen.
    Make your own future.
    Make your own hope.
    Make your own love.
    And whatever your beliefs
    ,honor your creator,
    not by passively waiting
for grace to come down from upon high,
but by doing what you can to make grace happen...
    yourself,
    right now,
right down here on Earth.~ Bradley Whitford

Smelly, I’m loving your flow right now. Lots of honey in your words. Smile

I agree with you. BPW is just yin and yang. The creation of the universe pressing the suprise me button and playing hide and seek with itself. The knock on the door can only ever be us. We are not just IN the universe, we ARE the universe.

    Post by 99 Wed May 30, 2018 9:07 am

There was a time when we distinguished ourselves from the other animals because of our powers of reason.
The icon of the Enlightenment was Rousseau's 'Smile of Reason'.
Well, it seems, at least since the time of Machiavelli, Marx and Freud, that we have devolved from rationalists to rationalizers.
The primary target of postmodern deconstruction is precisely the notion that there exists any such archetype as Reason.
Reason has been dethroned by the Selfish Gene.
What was once a singular and progressive history of ideas has been reduced to an endless interplay of mere memes.
There is a problem, however, that the deconstructors of the mind are not facing up to.
The whole notion of deconstruction is based on the possibility of analysis.
Behind deconstruction lies analysis and the analytical movement in philosophy.
Behind the analytical movement in philosophy lies the atomistic impulse of science.
Everything must have a foundation, and the foundation of deconstruction is to be found in the ancient concept of the Atom.
To deconstruct the mind is, in some very non-trivial sense, to atomize the mind. ~ Dan Smith

    I like Dan’s words.

Philosophy is speculation, what we are doing here is participation not understanding.

They are two completely different ways to approach life.

Dan is great and all, but the philosophy is transcended now by final participation with what is behind that door.

Just the opinion of a dumb Smelly Goat.

I have to go wrangle some DNA.

    Peace.

OK, so the problem I have with you guys saying this in the context of 'UFO disclosure' is that you probably wouldn't apply the same philosophy if somebody actually did knock on your physical front door, or your phone beeped with a message or you felt hungry etc.

You would open the door, check the phone and get something to eat.

You would respond to all these stimuli in a sane and NATURAL way, yet you are seemingly deflecting NATURAL curiosity towards UFO phenomena by implying we shouldn't pay attention to it.

Did I miss the meeting where curiosity was declared an UNNATURAL act?

The point is, this approach of sniffy, esoteric disdain and dismissiveness towards the UFO mystery is extremely useful for the Rons and the CIAs of this world who want ordinary people to keep their heads down and shut the fuck up.

Curiosity is not divine, but it gets the job done.

    Knowing is.

    Here is a thought.

The aliens are pointing us at ourselves.

    Did you get the message?

I don’t even have to meet them to get that.

It’s clear as day what they mean and are telling us.

They have always been with us.

Life is the most fascinating thing happening all around now.

It is not waiting for us behind that door.

Curiosity is great and it does lead somewhere.

I just said I am NO longer curious about the external world the way I was.

    Sweet Release,

By no means am I saying people should not be curious. I was very curious when I first came here to OMF 6 or 7 months ago. My brother had been having human initiated close encounter experiences and I was curious. I decided to go out to the West Desert here in Utah in the middle of the night and try it out myself. The result of that experience and encounter has led me to where I am now, but nothing Smelly could have said here in OMF would have satisfied my need to know and my need to experience IT myself. The key to understanding it all is hidden in our own consciousness.

its hard to imagine this is the BPW if you have been wrongly convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison .   no  this is not me.    its easier if you have spent your life as hugh hefner .    but i have pondered all things being evened out, fair and transparent , no predator prey. no need for camouflage , no feeding on each other,  plants included,  no deception and so on.   everyone happy!!    nope  it doesn't work.
