INCANTATION

In every story about sorcery, there is the magic spell uttered with secret words. The apprentice must learn them. The master must teach their superb use and also pass on the regret of excess. A few weeks ago I played a tabletop RPG called Traveler for the first time. Traveler is this wild, extensive Sci-Fi game made by some retired NASA guys that uses real physics and tries to ground itself in real science using the rules of FTL travel to journey through the cosmos. Our game took place in an area called the Sword Worlds where a neo-viking culture dominated that section of space. We learned from our GM (Game Master) that part of the fun of the game is the random events that occur during character creation during what are called terms. I created a human and naturally I chose the Intelligence Agent profession of course. On my first term I was passed up for promotion but found out I was called "The Child of the Aesir" which is basically the living child of a god on the material plane. I was regarded as a messiah (the perfect cover) by some but my character who I named Rorik was cynical about it, he enjoyed the accolades but he mostly just had a job to do. Things got more interesting on the second term! On the second term I rolled really well and the GM paused for a bit, looked over his notes and his computer a few times then back at me with a perplexed look on his face, shrugs and just asks "drones"? I immediately say "yes that's perfect" and tried not to leap out of my chair! It felt as if being struck by lightning and it was everything I could do to contain my laughter. Finally we reached the last term that night and my character sustained a blow to the head. One of his drones backfired and cracked right into his noggin! Now, Rorik sees visions and truly believes he is the messiah! I might start calling him "The Drone Priest".

Hahahaha, isn't that kind of fucking weird bruh?
