The president said Monday "our nation must condemn racism, bigotry and white supremacy” and vowed the country would respond with "urgent resolve" to the recent tragedies. But experts say sexism and toxic masculinity must also be part of any conversation about America's mass shootings. Gun violence, after all, is disproportionately committed by men, data shows, and misogyny can be a precursor to other forms of extremism. 

According to statements from authorities and media reports from people who knew the alleged gunmen, the three mass shooters in Dayton, Ohio; El Paso, Texas; and Gilroy, California, either explicitly expressed hatred for women or embraced forms of extremism connected to a disdain for them.

As it stands now, it's clear that our gov't is not going to do anything  to help prevent mass shootings so the only recourse is for every citizen out there to purchase a gun (and maybe even semi-automatics) to protect themselves and their families from these monsters who are responsible for these mass shootings. Teachers should have a semi-automatic within reach in their classrooms.

If the gov't won't protect us, we have to protect ourselves. Simple as that.

It's way too late for gun control because by now, all of the loons already own one. And besides that, real gun control is not going to happen anyway. By now, most of us know that.

259 does not include the fatalities that occurred over this past weekend in El Paso and Dayton. That brings that figure up to 290 over the past year. But there were other smaller mass shootings too during that time (over this past weekend) so in actuality it's more than 290.

Might the tragic events of this past week and the recent past such as Las Vegas be more a symptom or expression of our current collective state?

I don't believe that the President or indeed perhaps any other individual who might currently be the president would have changed the culture medium from where we currently are.

Whatever the future may be we need to find the path to collective peace.

My mum and I nearly joined the list when I was a baby or so I am told.

Some in your country want guns, some want them banned.

How about everyone get together and create a world that is so good that people don't want guns and then people don't want or need to have them banned.

There should be a grass roots effort to buy up all of the guns and semi-automatic and assault weapons and distribute them to the general public for everyone to defend themselves against those crazies who are responsible for mass shootings.

The gov't amazingly still allows sale of these weapons to anyone who wants them. Consequently, it's the people that has to rise up, fight back and defend themselves. 

It's all about survival and this is what we have to do.
