Where did all the Open Minds Forum members go?

Fri Oct 19, 2012 12:29 pm by Admin

With Open Minds Forum restored now for almost half a year at it's new location with forumotion.com we can now turn to look at reaching out to OMF's original members who have not yet returned home. OMF's original membership was over 6,000 members strong, prior to the proboards suspension, according to the rolls of the time. We can probably safely assume that some of those accounts were unidentified socks. If we were to assume a reasonable guess of maybe as many as 30% possible sock accounts then that would leave potentially somewhere between 4800 to 4900 possible real members to locate. That is still a substantial number of people.

Who were all these people? Some were average individuals with common interests in ufology, exopolitics, globalism, corruption, earthchanges, science and technology, and a variety of other interests. Some just enjoyed being part of a vibrant and unusually interesting community. Others were representative of various insider groups participating in observation and outreach projects, while still others were bonafide intelligence community personnel. All with stake in the hunt for truth in one fashion or another. Some in support of truth, and communication. Others seeking real disclosure and forms of proof. And others highly skeptical of anything or limited subjects. The smallest division of membership being wholly anti-disclosure oriented.

So where did these members vanish to? They had many options. There are almost innumerable other forums out there on the topics of UFO's or Exopolitics, the Unexplained, and Conspiracy Theory. Did they disappear into the world-wide network of forum inhabitants? Did some go find new homes on chatrooms or individual blogs? Did they participate in ufo conventions or other public events and gatherings? How about those who represented groups in special access? Or IC and military observers? Those with academic affiliations? Where did they all go and what would be the best way to reach out and extend an invitation to return?

And what constitutes a situation deserving of their time and participation? Is the archive enough? How exactly do people within the paradigm most desire to define a community? Is it amenities, humanity or simply population size for exposure? Most of the special guests have been emailed and have expressed that population size for exposure is what most motivates them. But not all. Long-time member Dan Smith has other priorities and values motivating his participation. Should this open opportunities for unattached junior guests who have experience and dialog to contribute to the world? How best to make use of OMF's time, experience and resources?

Many skeptics would like to see the historical guardian of discourse opportunity to just up and disappear; go into permanent stasis. They think that not everyone has a right to speak about their experiences and if there is no proof involved then there can philosophically be no value to discourse. I personally would respectfully disagree with them. Discourse has always been the prelude to meaningful relationships and meaningful mutual relationships have always been the prelude to exchanges of proof. In a contentious social environment with regards to communication vs disclosure how do we best re-establish a haven for those preludes? Is it only the "if we build it they will come" answer? Well considering OMF has been largely fully functional over the last four or five months this line of reasoning is not necessarily true. So what would be the best way re-establish this? Your suggestions are sought. Please comment.

The Sun Is Also A Warrior - Lyrics

    Leslie Fish (c) 1986

Two men walked on the beach in the sun.
One left footprints, the other left none.
    One was a man who no man obeys;
The other a god from the ancient days.
"Look," said the man, "how my kind make war.
I summonned you here to ask what for."
"For wealth or land," the god replies,
"For life, or freedom, or some king's lies."

    CHORUS:
"The sun is also a warrior.
    Knowledge can also destroy.
    Nor can the kindest will,
    Preserve you from the kill.
Not all of wisdom brings joy."

"Four of those five," the first one said,
Are not enough to appease the dead.
To save my world all this strife must cease,
So now I bid you to conjure peace."
The god said "Yes. Though it grieves me sore,
For I was also a god of war,
And I remember what you forget,
Four of those five you may still regret."

    CHORUS

He raised his voice and he raised his hand.
All strife stopped at the god's command.
No voice ventured an angry word,
No hand struck and no weapon stirred.
In time, the man called the old god back.
"Look," he cried, "what my people lack!
One lord rules over all the earth,
And we're all his slaves from the hour of birth."

    CHORUS

"Look, he owns all wealth, and he owns all land,
We starve and die under his command.
He speaks the truth and he gives us peace,
But all that I hope for is our release."
The old god said, "This is what you willed.
For only thus is your wish fulfilled.
War's five sources I took away,
Yet I will give four of them back today."

    CHORUS

He raised his hand and his voice once more,
And all the world overturned in war.
And when the last of those fires let fall,
There was no lord in the world at all.
"Go rebuild now," the old god said,
"Feed the living and bury the dead,
And remember this when you speak of war,
And think upon what is worth fighting for."

    CHORUS

An outstanding Quebec hit in the surf and hot rod instrumental category: Mer Morte, '64, Jaguars, Tournesol label, composed by Jean-Guy Cossette.

As lovely as she plays. Fabulous mixture of Shadoogey (contraction of Shadows' Boogey) and Guitar Boogey. The former is from '61 by the Shadows. If it sounds familiar, it's because it's motif that occurs in many songs like Religion and Glory (aka A Wonderful Time Up There, aka Gospel Boogey), music and lyric by Lee Roy Abernathy, '47, recorded in '48 by his Homeland Harmony Quartet, and later by Johnny Cash, Johnny Mathis, and especially Pat Boone in '58 who popularized it.

Super '60s girl group from the Quebec City region comprising Diane Gallichand (lead guitar), Claire Gallichand ( bass guitar), Carole Boutin (guitar), and Ginette Douville (drums) doing a superb French version of a Beatles hit, which should be Allo, bye bye.

The Miladys were Quebec's top girl group, and were made up of the Lavasseur sisters (again the a is short), Hélène and Andrée, and Denise Biron.

2017 is also the 375th anniversary of the founding of Montréal (mõ-řĭ-ăl')(I can't use the IPA font, but the correct IPA symbol for the short a is æ and for the short i it is the Greek letter iota), where I was born. It was preceded by Hochelaga, meaning ''grand rapids,'' an Iroquois village at the foot of what was dubbed by Champlain as mons realis. It was founded in 1642 as Ville Marie by the Société de Notre-Dame (nŭtřə-dăm, which can be anglicized to nŭtrŭ-dăm), and later called Montréal. It was incorporated as a city in 1862, and it was majority English from 1835-1865. It is now the 2nd largest majority-French city in the world and called the Paris of North America.

Throw out your potato peeler: A better way.

Fixing any potato dishes for Christmas this year? I thought I'd share this great technique for peeling potatoes; especially if you have lots and lots of potatoes to peel! Trust me, it works!
