To be lost in the infinite is to be overwhelmed by possibilities.
To be lost in the finite is to live in fantasy.
No one understands where decisions are made.
No one can answer if they are freely acting or not, usually not.
You put a hand up and randomly make gestures.
Something decides what gesture before it’s formed.
I didn’t choose it.
A part of me I’m not conscious of did.
It does not appear our conscious mind is driving most of the time, if ever.
We can never express the fullness of experience in words.
So what could anyone gain or lose from the words of others?
Mostly misunderstanding.
Oh, you are an individual with your own thoughts?
Are you?
Sure about that?
Living free from the herd is difficult, it’s not an all or nothing situation.
The value of Religions is that they help organize commitments to a certain way of life.
They are a helpful way to live if you don’t lose yourself in it.
I call bullshitz on modern religion, individualism is the only way out of it.
Later when you are steadier and have more experience and awareness, you can try for your own life, beyond the herd.
No training wheels.
Then put the gods back on the shelf and bow to them out of respect.
What was for today may not be for tomorrow.
One muppet’s best world is another’s hell.
If one is half in and half out of the herd, this is the best position logically.
What we struggle with and what philosophy can help with, is giving you some distance from things so you are not totally absorbed by the infinite or the finite.
That’s all.
To live the religion of the herd is to go along to get along.
To have a nation and a leader removes the burden on those in the herd.
But it also makes them fat for the plucking.
The Evangelical church today is mostly run by crooks and the prosperity gospel.
They represent the state religion of capitalism, consumer faith.
When the culture fails, and the state fails, when gods fail, we turn to dictators and we stop thinking and act out the will of the leader.
No thanks, whatever life is, that’s not my fate thankfully.
I was always a trouble maker in church.
The words made no sense to me, people were mostly hurting each other.
I saw no real love, just acts of selfishness, in myself most.
The dead leader or religion or state or culture possesses us, a false sit in for the void.
Is a balance possible, sure I think, as in all things.
UFOs can overwhelm the muppet.
Politics can overwhelm the muppet.
Religion can overwhelm the muppet.
Work can overwhelm the muppet.
Silence can overwhelm the muppet.
I have realized the value maintaining my own council.
I can worship any or no god, live as a citizen in any country or none. Let anyone temporarily lead in situations.
I know no one leads anyone or themselves really.
Perhaps until we can make decisions, they are mostly made for us.
What you believe is whatever you believe.
An individual can live among any muppet or none.
Can a muppet live without their herd?
Have they even considered such?
The ones who go their own way in this world today have remarkable will.
Is it best to be fooled or free?
If we can’t ever prove we are or are not free, does it matter at all what happens?
If we are free, we are only hurting ourselves denying it.
If we aren’t free, then nothing matters.
The end of blind faith is nihilism ironically.
Lazy cynicism has replaced thoughtful conviction as the mark of an educated worldview.
Irony lays waste to corruption and hypocrisy.
They flatter you to keep you watching.
We rightly have come to distrust religion and politics through irony.
But what if irony leads to a sinkhole of relativism and disavowal?
My cannon camera model is called a ‘Rebel!’
Irony institutionalized is tyranny.
The rebellious posture of the past has been annexed by the very commercialism it sought to defy.
Our art today disguises banality with fashionable postmodern aesthetic and irony.
We enjoy watching our own self destruction.
Who will dare to cut against the prevailing tone of cynicism and irony, risking “sentimentality,” “ovecredulity” and “softness.”
Can we have art and logos that redeems and not only criticizes, is sincere and authentic?
Indeed, no matter how cynical and nihilistic the times, we have always had artists who make work that invokes meaning, hope and mystery. Participation over spectatorship. We must move toward the Glory Hallelujah, toward the possibility of something greater. The best art and word can inspire us and push us closer.
One attribute of a move toward something greater is to reject the safety of the ironic, remove and risk the possibility of failure.
So here I come back to faith, it seems to always come back around to a leap of hope.
The daimon who brushed me with its wings has left me with reverence for the richness of everyday life.
I believe in my life!
I see our greatness in hopeful living. Cynicism has a place to rightfully call bullshit.
They tried to drown the authentic expression of the 60s with commercialized rebellion.
It is disgusting and putrid in our mouths.
We are destroying the world to be rid of this drivel.
We can move from reverence, to reckoning, to redemption.
Participation is our redemption.
Do you hear my friends, that’s good news
What I have done here with invading Dan’s OMF project was to participate.
Can’t say I have seen many others do so here or in life authentically and sincerely, which was true or myself too.
Most have brought their cynical conspiracies and irony, laughing at the fall.
Hoping it falls so they can be rewarded.
Insanity.
Well, I wept and I demanded better for myself of myself, not others.
This is my project.
“Skeptics reject sincerity because they worry blind belief can lead to such evils as the Ku Klux Klan and Nazism. They think strong conviction implies vulnerability to emotional rhetoric and lack of critical awareness. But the goal of great art is the same whether one approaches it seriously or dubiously. To make something new, to transcend, one must have an honest relationship with what is: history, context, form, tradition, oneself. Dishonesty is the biggest obstacle to making original, great art. Dishonesty undermines a work’s internal integrity — the only standard by which a work can succeed. If the work becomes a vehicle for one’s ego, personal or political agenda, self-image, desire for fame, adulation, fortune — human as these inclinations may be — the work will be limited accordingly. Even a desire to affirm human dignity and elevate the human spirit can be corrupted by dishonesty in the form of sentimentality.
Sentimentality, the ostentatious parading of excessive and spurious emotion, is the mark of dishonesty, the inability to feel; the wet eyes of the sentimentalist betray his aversion to experience, his fear of life, his arid heart; and it is always, therefore, the signal of secret and violent inhumanity, the mask of cruelty.”
Great art and living must be achieved through the integrity of its own internal principles. Irony alone has no principles and no inherent purpose beyond mockery and destruction. The best examples of irony artfully expose lies, yet irony in itself has no aspiration to honesty, or anything else for that matter.
So, where does art rise above ironic ridicule and aspire to greatness, in terms of challenging convention and elevating the human spirit? Where does Glory Hallelujah meet integrity?
“[Poetry] forms the quality of the light within which we predicate our hopes and dreams toward survival and change, first made into language, then into idea, then into more tangible action… The farthest horizons of our hopes and fears are cobbled by our poems, carved from the rock experiences of our daily lives.”
“At one time, irony served to challenge the establishment; now it is the establishment. The art of irony has turned into ironic art. Irony for irony’s sake. A smart aleck making bomb noises in front of a city in ruins. But irony without a purpose enables cynicism. It stops at disavowal and destruction, fearing strong conviction is a mark of simplicity and delusion. But we can remake the world. In poetry, in music, in painting, we can reimagine and plot coordinates into the unknown. We can take an honest look, rework and try again. The work will tell us if it has arrived or not. We have to listen closely. What do we see? What do we hear?”
I didn’t just fart on Disclosure, I demonstrated a better way, I participated with it.
I rose to the cynical view of Eschatons and Disclosures with irony, participation and hope grounded in myself and small life.
Participation over spectatorship.
I will participate in the rest of my life and I hope you will find a way beyond irony, skepticism and the evil cynicism of conspiracy in your life.
Let us make our greatest art together.
