Where did all the Open Minds Forum members go?

Fri Oct 19, 2012 12:29 pm by Admin

With Open Minds Forum restored now for almost half a year at it's new location with forumotion.com we can now turn to look at reaching out to OMF's original members who have not yet returned home. OMF's original membership was over 6,000 members strong, prior to the proboards suspension, according to the rolls of the time. We can probably safely assume that some of those accounts were unidentified socks. If we were to assume a reasonable guess of maybe as many as 30% possible sock accounts then that would leave potentially somewhere between 4800 to 4900 possible real members to locate. That is still a substantial number of people.

Who were all these people? Some were average individuals with common interests in ufology, exopolitics, globalism, corruption, earthchanges, science and technology, and a variety of other interests. Some just enjoyed being part of a vibrant and unusually interesting community. Others were representative of various insider groups participating in observation and outreach projects, while still others were bonafide intelligence community personnel. All with stake in the hunt for truth in one fashion or another. Some in support of truth, and communication. Others seeking real disclosure and forms of proof. And others highly skeptical of anything or limited subjects. The smallest division of membership being wholly anti-disclosure oriented.

So where did these members vanish to? They had many options. There are almost innumerable other forums out there on the topics of UFO's or Exopolitics, the Unexplained, and Conspiracy Theory. Did they disappear into the world-wide network of forum inhabitants? Did some go find new homes on chatrooms or individual blogs? Did they participate in ufo conventions or other public events and gatherings? How about those who represented groups in special access? Or IC and military observers? Those with academic affiliations? Where did they all go and what would be the best way to reach out and extend an invitation to return?

And what constitutes a situation deserving of their time and participation? Is the archive enough? How exactly do people within the paradigm most desire to define a community? Is it amenities, humanity or simply population size for exposure? Most of the special guests have been emailed and have expressed that population size for exposure is what most motivates them. But not all. Long-time member Dan Smith has other priorities and values motivating his participation. Should this open opportunities for unattached junior guests who have experience and dialog to contribute to the world? How best to make use of OMF's time, experience and resources?

Many skeptics would like to see the historical guardian of discourse opportunity to just up and disappear; go into permanent stasis. They think that not everyone has a right to speak about their experiences and if there is no proof involved then there can philosophically be no value to discourse. I personally would respectfully disagree with them. Discourse has always been the prelude to meaningful relationships and meaningful mutual relationships have always been the prelude to exchanges of proof. In a contentious social environment with regards to communication vs disclosure how do we best re-establish a haven for those preludes? Is it only the "if we build it they will come" answer? Well considering OMF has been largely fully functional over the last four or five months this line of reasoning is not necessarily true. So what would be the best way re-establish this? Your suggestions are sought. Please comment.

    What do I see?

    I see behind all circumstances
To the center of it all
    That connects to my center
    I am connected to all
    I know my self
    I know where I stand
    And every thing needed comes
I see fear and great hunger and greed
Stalking the creatures on the Earth
I see humans overcome with power
I see wealth is a cancer
I see culture as a cess pit
I sometimes like to wallow in

    I am ancient
    I am legion
    I am restless
I am waking up all over
    I am Arjuna reborn
    Called to eat the Earth
    And set it ablaze
My sword now is a flute
I am a protector of life
The spark within is an ember
One I must let grow brighter

    Where I walk, flowers bloom
    Darkness bows in respect
    Light yields its truth
    The moon bends down
    And kisses me
    Setting my heart aflame
With the power of a 1000 Suns

    I am in the Stars

What do you see and be?

    A Suicide Story

Last night my love and I were chasing the moon across the Bay and we passed a man on a bridge after a beautiful day at the beach. He was hanging over the rail on the top of the causeway bridge.

The emotions we felt together after just laughing, surged like a tsunami and crashed down on our joy.

We pulled off and called the CHP. We saw him get up and move around about to jump from below the bridge, he did not while we watched. We would not liked to have seen that. We left after we gave all the info to the CHP. Later we saw on the traffic app, two CHP cars were there on the bridge. We assume they were trying to talk him down. I searched the news this morning and no suicide on the causeway under the full moon seemed to have been reported yet.

As we drove home under the same Full Moon that man was leaning off the rail under on the bridge, I felt an odd connection. I imagined myself as that man and what could have led him to this. I tried to tell him the confusion was his. I thought, but it takes a lot of courage to jump. It’s got to be the hardest thing to do in your life. What could an act like that mean, if anything? What does my life mean? Is it any better to stick it out to the end? The stoic in me said, there is no question, we march on til sword or old age comes for us, of course, of course, but what if my family had been murdered, or something worse?

Nothing like seeing a man about to jump, to bring a clarity to being in the moment.

I thought, you poor fool, nothing is worth dying like that over. But no one can reach anyone once they decide to die. You can only restrain them. I don’t know his burden, I accepted, but I still wished he not kill himself, it felt offensive to me, a waste, but there is nothing there to be offended ultimately I said.

He was just like a fly falling into a trap maybe. We are here and gone as if we never existed except for memories and a gravestone and our name and thoughts floating across time.

It hurt me deeply and I felt a flash of anger too.

We were laughing again by the time we got home with the dogs and a great day was had by all.

    cw,

I know of no portals anywhere, but I suspect they exist everywhere.  The Earth is a portal.

Ken Wilber.......... my guru, Bob Clark, thought highly of Ken.

Transpersonal psychology has a lot to do with personalism, and nothing to do with transhumanism, in my estimation.

    hi dan

if you know of no portals anywhere, but the earth is a portal , than you know of a portal. earth

if everything is a portal than nothing is a portal.

if there is a portal, that many of us are interested in , I believe its not the everything is a portal kind

We will all go through the death portal eventually, just like we came through the birth portal.

There are many other portals, but none as permanent to your person than Death.

I have contemplated death a great deal recently. Other than the electromagnetic footprint left, it’s as if you were never here. Sobering to consider and clarifying.

Thanks for the references, Smelly! Much appreciated.

On a side note, the universe told me this morning that:

For every physical adventure, there's the possibility of loss. That's what makes it an adventure.
For every spiritual adventure, there's only gain. Which totally spoils the adventure, and is why you choose to forget that all physical adventures are really spiritual adventures.
    Everything makes you more.

Well said cw, I no longer make a distinction between physical and spiritual, not that you asked Wink

Here is my morning goat bleat...

After all the things I have personally experienced, all I can speak of really, I realized I don’t know what spirit is.

There were inner voices who manifested as thoughts mostly quiet now.

What was the source of these thoughts?

I think I know, but I won’t speak it out loud.

Now I sit on my leather chair quiet and tranquil, reading for pleasure eating goat snacks, watching my cholesterol.

    Where is my spirit?

Perhaps it is the animating force, our breathe?

    I no longer care.

I see, if I’m honest, I won’t undertand most of life, and I am very ok not knowing.

Synchronicity is how I hear the universe speak most clearly now out of spontaneous actions.

I just had a synchronicity with you.

I wonder what this means, only we know. So I got a ping from your post, here is my pong, which I just read before work.

I had to wait to leave for work to write this.

This is how it goes with everything, it just happens and I respond knowing no one is watching really, but I see and hear it deep inside.

I feel to let the Cosmos know I have seen and and heard it, silliness I’m sure on my part.

    ...

    Sometimes you roll strikes,
    And sometimes you roll gutters.
    Sometimes you eat the bear,
And sometimes the bear eats you.
    Sometimes you deal with reactionaries,
And sometimes you deal with pacifists.
Sometimes you take any rug in the house,
And sometimes you take a crack on the jaw.

The natural way should not be tampered with.
For when one tries to divert it, one destroys it,
And when one tries to grip it, one fumbles it.
Therefore we are skeptical of extremes,
    And opposed to extravagant ideals.

    ...

Life I feel now is so simple and beautiful.

I write of it simply out of pure joy in a naive hope others will learn more about themselves, as I learn about my self.

As far as a life on Earth, it ain’t so bad to be a witness to my life and all lives here on Earth now.

Dan says I occasionally offer a valuable comment, what I speak of is the beginning and end of it.

He seems to have little awareness about the true nature of being here now.

    Do I?

No, I’m just a smelly goat bleating into the desert of the mind to no one.

I will gladly be the scapegoat here.

I can feel a gust of wind just now blowing through...

I offer my atoms to the wind freely and gladly, blow me where you may.

I'm reaching the conclusion that all of disclosure and all of ETs and all of UFOs is coming down our desire to try and know what spirit is.

I do generally enjoy your disposition, Smelly, but the defeatist nature you consistently present that we can't at least obtain some knowledge of spirit beyond what we know now (as common knowledge that is), is so disappointing. We most likely can never know the ultimate answer. For example, when we die and become God, can't we always ask... "well... could there be a higher God than what I am now?" I believe we most certainly can. The god head can never know itself, just as a tooth can't bite itself, and a flame can't burn itself. But perhaps we can progress to some knowing of spirit beyond what we know today.
