Who's Disclosure is Disclosure?

Sun Apr 14, 2019 2:16 am by Cyrellys

The narrative war is in full swing. When there's a 100 different competing narratives, how is it possible to discern a disclosure?

Is it akin to which truth is Truth?

    First topic message reminder :

    “Nature's first green is gold,
    Her hardest hue to hold.
    Her early leaf's a flower;
    But only so an hour.
    Then leaf subsides to leaf.
    So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
    Nothing gold can stay.”

Now, I believe in nothing, because nothing is that from which we sprang.

    I’m not a foolish rabbit.

    I don’t deny Big Kahuna.

    Big Dreamer.

    Big Bopper.

    I don’t ignore the whisper.

    You wanna know Tom Bombadil.

To deny reality is an evil act.

    It’s stupid.

Evil is tolerated to a point.

    So one chops their wood.

    One eats their daily stew.

    One cultivates their garden.

One shares their life with another.

And one sees that all happens under an eternally shining smile.

And there isn’t any problem here really.

You wanna be in the circle.

But what if you live in Gaza?

Your chance for abiding is gone.

    Now you are just surviving.

    And so the world turns.

Some words from “Huangbo’s Transmission of the Mind.”

“1. The Master told Xiu, “Buddhas and beings are just this one mind and nothing else. From time without beginning, this mind has never been born or destroyed, it isn’t blue or yellow, it has no form or characteristics, it isn’t subject to existence or non-existence, it doesn’t qualify as new or old, it isn’t long or short, it isn’t big or small. It exceeds all limits, descriptions, imitations, or comparisons. It’s right here, in this body. If you think about it, you’ve missed it. Like space, it has no borders and can’t be measured. Just this one mind, this is the buddha. There is no difference between a buddha and a being. But beings are attached to appearances and search outside themselves. And their searching leads them further astray. Sending a buddha to find a buddha, using the mind to grasp the mind, they could wear themselves out for kalpas without end, and they still wouldn’t find it. They don’t realize that if they stopped thinking and worrying about it, the buddha would appear before them. This mind is a buddha. A buddha is a being. When it’s a being, this mind doesn’t shrink, and when it’s a buddha, this mind doesn’t expand.

    2. “As for the six paramitas and ten thousand practices and meritorious deeds as countless as the sands of the Ganges, they are already here. You don’t need to add them through cultivation. When conditions are present, practice. When conditions end, stop. If you aren’t convinced this is the buddha, and you prefer to practice while attached to appearances in order to achieve some result, this is a delusion and contrary to the Way. This mind is the buddha. There is no other buddha. Moreover, there is no other mind. This mind is clear and pure. Like space, it is devoid of even the slightest characteristic. If you try to think or reason about it, you distort the reality of things and become attached to appearances. From time without beginning, there has never been a buddha attached to appearances.

    3. “Like space, it is free of any mixture or decay. Like the wheel of the sun, it illuminates the four quarters. When the sun rises, and its light fills the world, space doesn’t become brighter. And when the sun sets, and darkness covers the world, space doesn’t become darker. The states of light and darkness alternate with each other, but the nature of space remains completely unchanged. The minds of buddhas and beings are also like this. Anyone who conceives of a buddha as having the attributes of purity, light, or liberation or who conceives of a being as having the attributes of impurity, darkness, or endless rebirth will never attain enlightenment even in the course of as many kalpas as there are grains of sand in the Ganges. This is because they are attached to appearances. Other than this one mind there is not the slightest thing you can find. This mind is the buddha. People who study the Way nowadays aren’t aware of the reality of this mind. Instead they create a mind in addition to the mind and look for a buddha somewhere else. Practices that involve attachment to appearances are evil teachings, not the path to enlightenment.

‘There is nothing in this that is different or not the same. Thus is it called ‘enlightenment.’”

The master said, “I don't say that there is no Zen, just that there are no teachers.”

    Why sit whining over things?

“Should you look for a parable of life and death
Ice and water are the true comparisons.
    Water binds and turns into ice;
Ice melts and again becomes water.
Whatever has died will certainly be born,

Dreamtime as the more fundamental reality.

That is the place where we can see possibilities and then we can move matter to realize them.

It is realigning with the Dreamtime that describes enlightenment.

People just can’t get over how real this all feels around us.

But this around us is not fundamental.

Poets and mystics have always known this.

Information loading comes from the Dreamtime.

I can only say after the last 10 years of awakening from the illusion of the world to the dreaming universe…

    YES

    Who or what is dreaming?

Lovecraft’s monsters or Blake and Swedenborg’s God?

Well, I think the Dreamer has 10000 faces, dark and light.

    All the above.

The Dreamer with our participation, has dreamed wondrous beauty.

    And also the darkest nightmares.

I live in the beauty, but am touched by the darkness.

The world is in darkness atm.

Well, I’m down with all this.

Does it change how live everyday?

    Not really.

But it can transform your life learning to operate in the Dreamtime.

That would mean most of our waking experience is determined from the fundamental level.

All the journeying one does within is into the Dreamtime.

One must have a mind of winter
To regard the frost and the boughs
    Of the pine-trees crusted with snow;

And have been cold a long time
To behold the junipers shagged with ice,
The spruces rough in the distant glitter

Of the January sun; and not to think
Of any misery in the sound of the wind,
In the sound of a few leaves,

Which is the sound of the land
    Full of the same wind
That is blowing in the same bare place

For the listener, who listens in the snow,
    And, nothing himself, beholds
Nothing that is not there and the nothing that is.

    Do you realize?

    Life goes fast.

Hard to make the good things last.

The illusion of the sun going down is just caused by the world spinning 😵💫 round.

Who made the swan, and the black bear?
    Who made the grasshopper?
    This grasshopper, I mean—
the one who has flung herself out of the grass,
the one who is eating sugar out of my hand,
who is moving her jaws back and forth instead of up and down—
who is gazing around with her enormous and complicated eyes.
Now she lifts her pale forearms and thoroughly washes her face.
Now she snaps her wings open, and floats away.
I don't know exactly what a prayer is.
I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down
into the grass, how to kneel down in the grass,
how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields,
which is what I have been doing all day.
Tell me, what else should I have done?

    Emerson wrote:Excerpt from Emerson’s “Nature”:

“The lover of nature is he whose inward and outward senses are still truly adjusted to each other; who has retained the spirit of infancy even into the era of manhood. His intercourse with heaven and earth, becomes part of his daily food. In the presence of nature, a wild delight runs through the man, in spite of real sorrows. Nature says,—he is my creature, and maugre all his impertinent griefs, he shall be glad with me. Not the sun or the summer alone, but every hour and season yields its tribute of delight; for every hour and change corresponds to and authorizes a different state of the mind, from breathless noon to grimmest midnight. Nature is a setting that fits equally well a comic or a mourning piece. In good health, the air is a cordial of incredible virtue. Crossing a bare common, in snow puddles, at twilight, under a clouded sky, without having in my thoughts any occurrence of special good fortune, I have enjoyed a perfect exhilaration. Almost I fear to think how glad I am. In the woods too, a man casts off his years, as the snake his slough, and at what period soever of life, is always a child. In the woods, is perpetual youth. Within these plantations of God, a decorum and sanctity reign, a perennial festival is dressed, and the guest sees not how he should tire of them in a thousand years. In the woods, we return to reason and faith. There I feel that nothing can befall me in life, — no disgrace, no calamity, (leaving me my eyes,) which nature cannot repair. Standing on the bare ground, — my head bathed by the blithe air, and uplifted into infinite space, — all mean egotism vanishes. I become a transparent eye-ball; I am nothing; I see all; the currents of the Universal Being circulate through me; I am part or parcel of God.”

Post by Big Bunny Love Tue Mar 05, 2024 12:25 pm

The story of Siddhartha (who later became known as the Buddha) meeting Mara is a significant part of Buddhist tradition, particularly in the context of Siddhartha's quest for enlightenment.

Siddhartha Gautama was a prince who renounced worldly pleasures and comforts to seek enlightenment and understand the nature of suffering. After years of ascetic practices and learning under various teachers, he realized that neither extreme asceticism nor indulgence in worldly pleasures would lead to true knowledge. He chose the Middle Way, which avoids both extremes, and sat under the Bodhi tree in Bodh Gaya, India, vowing not to rise until he had found the truth.

As Siddhartha meditated deeply and approached enlightenment, Mara, the demon representing delusions, desires, and the fear of death (also considered as the personification of one's own ego, attachments, and mental obstacles), appeared to thwart his efforts. Mara was afraid of losing his power if Siddhartha attained enlightenment and became free from the cycle of birth and death.

Mara attacked Siddhartha with armies of monsters and frightening visions, trying to instill fear and doubt. He used three main tactics: the armies representing fear, the visions of his daughters representing desire, and the challenge of entitlement to the seat of enlightenment. Each time, Siddhartha remained unmoved, his equanimity undisturbed by fear or desire.

When Mara challenged Siddhartha's right to become enlightened by asking who would testify for him, Siddhartha touched the earth with his right hand, calling the Earth itself as his witness. This gesture, known as the "Earth-touching mudra," symbolized Siddhartha's deep connection and harmony with the world and the truth of his spiritual journey. The Earth responded, affirming his right to enlightenment. Defeated, Mara disappeared, and Siddhartha achieved full enlightenment, becoming the Buddha.

The encounter with Mara represents the inner struggle that one must overcome to achieve spiritual awakening. It symbolizes the challenges faced on the path to enlightenment, including overcoming fear, desire, and ego, and illustrates the power of wisdom, determination, and compassion.

It’s a story, but it’s such a good story and far precedes Jesus.

I like the Buddha version better.

That story must have been told since the dawn of mind.

Of course, to really feel this story, you have to see yourself as Siddhartha.

500 B.C.E. something happened on Earth, something really really big.

    A flood of consciousness.

We are still living in the receding waters.

One does not need theories to explain life and death.

Life is very very clear if you look with open eyes.

Our death is very very clear.

I’ve gotten a really good up close look at death.

    Creepy and stinky.

While living one can overcome their ignorance.

This is more valuable than any amount of wealth.

    Jesus is not our/my savior.

Nothing can save you but you.

Jesus was just another harbinger of love.

His people built a religion around him like Siddhartha’s did.

They were spiritual masters to be sure.

And if you don’t worship them, you can sit down and look into their eyes and speak with them and you should.

But don’t fall down and worship them.

    No no no.

No matter how far you run from your self or numb your self to the pain of life, you always come back to your self.

The drunk at the end bar finds the same numbing at the bottom of the glass that the yogi does leaving his body.

The fear of being stuck in a loop.

There is only one knowledge and it is everywhere.

The myths of Buddha and Jesus sound sweet.

I’ve become distrustful and tired of words, learning, and the teachers of teachings.

What our minds learn takes us farther away.

    More of Mara’s tricks.

I’m kinda losing my skin these days.

When I look upon the Interwebs, I see a desert.

I hear the gasps of dying people.

I hear and see minds fraying.

People’s worst instincts are turned against them, their wills are usurped.

Teachings have never brought anyone salvation.

One cannot convey or explain the realizations and mysteries that have come to them.

I had to depart from Jesus’s teaching as I did Buddha’s.

For one who was born in the west and traveled east, that doesn’t leave many places to look.

I do not want to find the wizard behind the curtain.

I do not want to kill and dissect my self any longer.

I want to learn from my self.

I want to be my own student.

    And so I have been.

    This is what showed up.

That’s most of it right there.
