Where did all the Open Minds Forum members go?

Fri Oct 19, 2012 12:29 pm by Admin

With Open Minds Forum restored now for almost half a year at it's new location with forumotion.com we can now turn to look at reaching out to OMF's original members who have not yet returned home. OMF's original membership was over 6,000 members strong, prior to the proboards suspension, according to the rolls of the time. We can probably safely assume that some of those accounts were unidentified socks. If we were to assume a reasonable guess of maybe as many as 30% possible sock accounts then that would leave potentially somewhere between 4800 to 4900 possible real members to locate. That is still a substantial number of people.

Who were all these people? Some were average individuals with common interests in ufology, exopolitics, globalism, corruption, earthchanges, science and technology, and a variety of other interests. Some just enjoyed being part of a vibrant and unusually interesting community. Others were representative of various insider groups participating in observation and outreach projects, while still others were bonafide intelligence community personnel. All with stake in the hunt for truth in one fashion or another. Some in support of truth, and communication. Others seeking real disclosure and forms of proof. And others highly skeptical of anything or limited subjects. The smallest division of membership being wholly anti-disclosure oriented.

So where did these members vanish to? They had many options. There are almost innumerable other forums out there on the topics of UFO's or Exopolitics, the Unexplained, and Conspiracy Theory. Did they disappear into the world-wide network of forum inhabitants? Did some go find new homes on chatrooms or individual blogs? Did they participate in ufo conventions or other public events and gatherings? How about those who represented groups in special access? Or IC and military observers? Those with academic affiliations? Where did they all go and what would be the best way to reach out and extend an invitation to return?

And what constitutes a situation deserving of their time and participation? Is the archive enough? How exactly do people within the paradigm most desire to define a community? Is it amenities, humanity or simply population size for exposure? Most of the special guests have been emailed and have expressed that population size for exposure is what most motivates them. But not all. Long-time member Dan Smith has other priorities and values motivating his participation. Should this open opportunities for unattached junior guests who have experience and dialog to contribute to the world? How best to make use of OMF's time, experience and resources?

Many skeptics would like to see the historical guardian of discourse opportunity to just up and disappear; go into permanent stasis. They think that not everyone has a right to speak about their experiences and if there is no proof involved then there can philosophically be no value to discourse. I personally would respectfully disagree with them. Discourse has always been the prelude to meaningful relationships and meaningful mutual relationships have always been the prelude to exchanges of proof. In a contentious social environment with regards to communication vs disclosure how do we best re-establish a haven for those preludes? Is it only the "if we build it they will come" answer? Well considering OMF has been largely fully functional over the last four or five months this line of reasoning is not necessarily true. So what would be the best way re-establish this? Your suggestions are sought. Please comment.

One person’s missle, is another’s flower.

    Nothing happens without our reactions.

My most powerful muscles are my attention and my intention. If I control them I am free. If not. I am a slave.

Do as you feel with no fear, doubts come from fear.

    Fear is the mindkiller.

99, I was just playing with Ack.

    Sometimes play can seem rough.

    We are all only muppets.

How big is your view though, mine fills the Cosmos.

The question, are we Humans or Slaves?

    Just a point of view.

Circumstances can’t tell you directly, but give hints.

Depends on how you communicate and react.

Don’t be serious when I AM is having fun, there is nothing to be serious about.

Freedom comes through knowing any problem can be overcome with intention and attention, which is the definition of Love.

Cold Mountain is hidden in white clouds
It's peaceful to be cut off from the busy world
I use dry grass for cushions in my mountain home
My only light is the round moon
My bed is the rock beside the green pool
Tigers and deer are my companions
I delight in this happy peaceful life
Forever beyond the world of men

Loss of fear is all Nirvana is.
I am not here for curiosity, but liberation from ignorance.
If any blame, defame or defeat us, we do not care.
There is no ‘I’ or ‘mine’ to defend.
    I do not rspresent nothing.
    To live is to be.
This teaching is only the end of suffering by finding the state of no-fear.
There are paths to help one find no-fear.
No-fear and doing not doing is who you are.
    That is the Way.
Wherever there is the idea of self,
there is the idea of what will belong to self.
    Nothing belongs to self.
If you free the chains of life, you will have no fear.
The cause of your birth and death will end.
    All will be resolved.
    Instantly.
The holy life has been lived.
What needs be done has been done.
Things as they are will be known.
    Ignorance will have no foothold.
The enemy citadel has been destroyed.
    The door unbolted.
The moat filled in and crossed.
You may now look directly into the
    mirror of highest understanding.
    No more sadness or despair.
Just joy and laughter, where fear once ruled.
Now is not such a bad state of mind.
In fact it seems to be the only thing happening.

Thanks smelly, please keep your hands out of muppet butts.

In Dan’s thread they speak of ‘I’ and agreement on belief.

    It’s glorious to observe.

Comedy is the solution to rationality and reason.

So unless they dance and laugh at their illusion, they are just muppets in a story.

    They are negotiating their death.

It’s a thing to behold the various shades of Light here on OMF.

You can learn a lot from a bear.

Only you can prevent forest fires.

    They have no idea
    How deep the shadow goes
And what they will have to face
At the bottom no one knows
    Curiosity killed the cat
Here now is where it’s at
    Where can we hide
    No one can decide
So it’s the bottom of the soul for me
There was never anywhere to flee

Guys, about the asexual thing, it was my gardens fault. My petunias tricked me. It looked like they were lusting for me, but it was a reflection of my lust for them. So you see, I was lusting for myself.

At the same time I drew a tarot card that was about the Big Bang and how it was really a half goat man with breasts that sucked his/her own, you know what, and then spit it out.

    Boom. And here we are.

This is very serious philosophy folks.

Living enlightened is as easy as breathing.

    BEFORE COMPLETION

In this tradition of wei wu wei,
we don’t have a thing to offer you.
That is why you can rely upon
    it for everything.

    —Wei Wu Wei

No ‘I’ can ever be enlightened, because there is no such thing.

Eliminate fear, then you are free to play.

Good to see you playing Dougz.

Philosophy is speculation, Zen is direct participation.

i live in a boring and predictable town, with zombies marching in step. heads down, little to no eye contact and people behaving as if by program, age appropriate interaction, looks matching, races mingling with their own so to speak.

but for over 30 years I observe a guy, homeless looking, disheveled, dirty etc, sleeps where he can etc. he is non communicative, i have tried to speak to him. i have left him food and even offered him money. he usually doesn't take it or anything for that matter and just stares .
" the fool on the hill "plays in my mind as i watch him

i cannot find out why he is the way he is . but he is without a doubt, the person i most think of and ponder. its like he said somewhere along the way, i quit ! not buying into this game.

Yes, we don't know anything other than direct experience.
    Intuition guides our experience.
    Follow nothing and no one.
    Go your own way.
We can never stray, even when we are away, we are really home.
When the light shines down in and through us we open to it and just let it flow.
We get out of our own way and open the Way, right up and down the middle.

Been talking with a friend today about the movie "Truman Show" today. Good movie. When you are up on top of the frosty mountain you watch the director, the actors, Truman, and the stage. It's a movie about ourselves and we play all the parts, but we don't really play them. They just happen and we watch it.
Some people watch the movie and take it very serious.
I watch it very seriously too. But I never forget it is just a movie. How serious can a movie ever be?

The sound of silence is deafening and feels like beating hearts that are always dying from the time they take their first beat.
The goats that take their mountains playfully find the way up gleefully.
Flow like water does. Take the path of least resistance. It is the only path you have ever taken anyway, just recognise it.
We know nothing but direct experience. No words. No thoughts. Smell the flowers and sing in the hall of masks.

Well said by doug and ack.

It’s like this, you are in a boat with a rudder. Your instinct is to grab the rudder, but if you wait, you see the boat goes where it wants and you are just a passenger. Why not enjoy the ride.

You can waste all your energy trying to direct the boat.

The moment that hand comes off the rudder, you are sailing in Awareness.

Eventually, even when a storm comes, you don’t grab the rudder.

Somehow the ship keeps going and doesn’t smash itself.

In fact, once you let go the rudder, the boat takes you across the Abyss to the shores of Albion.

    We just let it happen.

    Blake’s painting of Albion.

I only choose to see here now.

Blake embraced the Daimonic and expressed his genius.

Going through and experiencing his Mythology now.

A year into his work and I’m barely started.

You see doug Ack and friends don’t you?!

    We have resolved our questions!

    Good show.

I found you gems out there.

    Now we just repeat ourselves.

We won’t have much more to say in this thread I suspect.

Who can argue with no fear?

They can try until the end of time.

Let us share the reflections that we see in this clear portal we have made here together.

I’d pay attention now that we are at peace, better yet, watch yourself and report back.
