Where did all the Open Minds Forum members go?

Fri Oct 19, 2012 12:29 pm by Admin

With Open Minds Forum restored now for almost half a year at it's new location with forumotion.com we can now turn to look at reaching out to OMF's original members who have not yet returned home. OMF's original membership was over 6,000 members strong, prior to the proboards suspension, according to the rolls of the time. We can probably safely assume that some of those accounts were unidentified socks. If we were to assume a reasonable guess of maybe as many as 30% possible sock accounts then that would leave potentially somewhere between 4800 to 4900 possible real members to locate. That is still a substantial number of people.

Who were all these people? Some were average individuals with common interests in ufology, exopolitics, globalism, corruption, earthchanges, science and technology, and a variety of other interests. Some just enjoyed being part of a vibrant and unusually interesting community. Others were representative of various insider groups participating in observation and outreach projects, while still others were bonafide intelligence community personnel. All with stake in the hunt for truth in one fashion or another. Some in support of truth, and communication. Others seeking real disclosure and forms of proof. And others highly skeptical of anything or limited subjects. The smallest division of membership being wholly anti-disclosure oriented.

So where did these members vanish to? They had many options. There are almost innumerable other forums out there on the topics of UFO's or Exopolitics, the Unexplained, and Conspiracy Theory. Did they disappear into the world-wide network of forum inhabitants? Did some go find new homes on chatrooms or individual blogs? Did they participate in ufo conventions or other public events and gatherings? How about those who represented groups in special access? Or IC and military observers? Those with academic affiliations? Where did they all go and what would be the best way to reach out and extend an invitation to return?

And what constitutes a situation deserving of their time and participation? Is the archive enough? How exactly do people within the paradigm most desire to define a community? Is it amenities, humanity or simply population size for exposure? Most of the special guests have been emailed and have expressed that population size for exposure is what most motivates them. But not all. Long-time member Dan Smith has other priorities and values motivating his participation. Should this open opportunities for unattached junior guests who have experience and dialog to contribute to the world? How best to make use of OMF's time, experience and resources?

Many skeptics would like to see the historical guardian of discourse opportunity to just up and disappear; go into permanent stasis. They think that not everyone has a right to speak about their experiences and if there is no proof involved then there can philosophically be no value to discourse. I personally would respectfully disagree with them. Discourse has always been the prelude to meaningful relationships and meaningful mutual relationships have always been the prelude to exchanges of proof. In a contentious social environment with regards to communication vs disclosure how do we best re-establish a haven for those preludes? Is it only the "if we build it they will come" answer? Well considering OMF has been largely fully functional over the last four or five months this line of reasoning is not necessarily true. So what would be the best way re-establish this? Your suggestions are sought. Please comment.

Smelly Goat, so you want to be banned? Ok. My pleasure. Next time round.... maybe Smiley or maybe even Brando? You sorta look, from a female POv, like an atomic mid-century Brando. I think you're cool, btw. A little mixed up but cool nevertheless. over and out.

btw anthony bourdaine, and an ever mounting slew of others ? well sorry to hear and condolences to family and friends etc, but there is something about "celebrity" that really sucks. funny how so many are striving to be so. hopefully one can live long enough to see thru it.

the most fascinating person I can think of in my little town is a drifter, a seemingly homeless guy who wanders the streets. i see him sleeping in corners and on factory front steps. i leave food etc for him at times. i have bought coffee for him, offered him money etc and have tried to engage in talk. he refuses all and never speaks.

and i have been seeing him for 25 years, doing the same. he is simply the most fascinating person in what otherwise is a predictable, march in step , zombie town. what an unbelievable bore.

I know the motive of all others. I don't really know what or who this person is?

My first job after college was at what they called, at the time, The General Relief dept. at the county welfare dept. My job was to do house calls for those types and needless to say, they lived in transient  hotels and abandoned buildings and the only thing they owned was a can opener. That job changed my life and set me on a journey I never could have possibly imagined... as one who drove around in a BMW and lived in the most expensive apt. building with a lake front view in town.... at that time. I could go on and on about this but one has to see it to connect to it and Doug, you sound like you've made that connection... and good for you!

    99 thanks for you words

what people need to get is that its not the BMW, its not the money and your things that you should feel bad or be ashamed of. to help those around you is to just SEE them. to notice them. to not think well, now that I have success, im in a different strata and don't need to pay any attention to these losers. this is the ego trap so many fall into. this is the downfall.

have good things, make a million dollars. even if you gave it all away , it wouldn't solve anything.

just notice people, have compassion, buy a cup of coffee for someone, talk with them and give some time to them and realize, hey thats me, thats my brother. do this, you move mountains.

So true Doug! Even just buying someone a simple cup of joe when you know they haven't had one in ages is a wonderful opportunity to make someone happier...  in a small yet wonderful way...  far more than we can possibly imagine. Just being fully aware of that is the first step towards making a real difference in this world... One small step at a time... It's an opportunity that's there right in front of our eyes every single day.... but too bad so many are blind to it.

Doug, your words remind me of a time a few years ago. The wife and I were about to walk into a Mexican diner for some lunch when a guy hit us up for some cash. Instead, we invited him to eat lunch with us. We placed our orders and said to him to place his own. He proceeded to order a dozen burritos or something obscene like that. The guy taking our order looked at like, "Really?". My wife said give half that, and so it was. He chose not to sit with us, and we didn't pressure him to. That was a good day.

    YES 99

I wave to every garbage man riding the back of their truck. They all know me, and I see them  as were are all the same.

And maybe they are even greater.

If I stopped making art and music, ho hum, the world continues.

If they stop picking up garbage?   well.......

its actually so easy, its hard for most people.  they drank the cool aid from the TV and are slave to the ego.

Was listening to my songs while at work.

The Lyrics are very poignant in the world we live in today.

Hey God, I'm just a little man got a wife and family
But I almost lost the house, Yeah I bought into the dream
We're barely holdin' on, when I'm in way to deep
We're two paychecks away from living out on the streets
She's a workin' single mom, like a Saint she don't complain
She never says a word, but she thinks that she's to blame
Her son just got convicted, He blew some punk away
She did her best to raise him, but the world got in the way

Hey God-Tell me what the hell is going on,

Seems like all the good shits gone
It keep on getting harder hanging on
Hey God, there's nights you know I want to scream
These days you're even hard to believe
I know how busy you must be, but Hey God...
Do you ever think about me
Born into the ghetto in 1991, just a happy child
    Playing beneath the summer sun
A vacant lost his playground, by 12 he's got a gun
The odds are bet against him, junior don't make 21
Hey God-Tell me what the hell is going on,
Seems like all the good shits gone
It keeps on getting harder hangin' on
Hey God, there's nights you know I want to scream
These days you're even hard to believe
I know how busy you must be, but Hey God...
Do you ever think about me
I'd get down on my knees, I'm going to try this thing your way
Seen a dying man to proud to beg spit on his own grave
Was he to gone to save?
Did you even know his name?
Are you the one who blame, I got somethink to say...
Hey God-Tell me what the hell is going on
Seems like all the good shits gone
It keeps on getting harder hangin' on
Hey God, there's nights you know I want to scream
These days you're even hard to believe
I know how busy you must be, but Hey God...

Doug, 99 , Dr.Z, Sign, Mion .. thank you all so much for the inspiring stories and 'Sign' what a great song. I'd vote for you all but there appears to be a problem at the moment.
We all have those stories to tell, don't we? Probably one of the less obvious reasons why we have found ourselves here at OM. We may have a pond between us but we're family nonetheless.

Mion .. thanks for all the great videos. Certainly thought provoking.

Sign, did you write the song? Is it set to music? Great lyrics .. please post an audio if you have it.

ERIC!!! Please come back. Anyone who calls their dogs Aurelius and Dante needs to be on this forum.

    Love you ALL .. Scott

Here is a curious article of Roswell

Possible pictures of the Roswell Aliens recovered

    https://www.theguardian.com/science/2017/sep/30/alien-photo-roswell-new-mexico-mystery

i have not been able to find the video that confirms this.. but

one of NASA's  staff or astronauts states they think basic life will be found on another planet within a decade..

This article make the above just that little bit closer

Great production Atomic Brando! Love the wizard hat, the hair, the amazingly beautiful and peaceful garden, your multi-personality representational garden ceramics set so quaintly on that garden table and his ever so intriguing and hypnotic anti-pontifications. A very meditative presentation but also maybe tooooooooo perfect and tooooo harmonious and meditative. Just a suggestion, but maybe Atomic Brando might like a 28 foot reticulated python to add to the mix to liven things up a bit. Have it attack his snapdragons where he saves the day by brandishing his trusty wand and zapping it back from whence it came.... the deep dark jungles of Borneo! That could be a good place for his next vacation too! Let's hope this video is only the first of the Atomic Brando series and I'm sure whatever he has in store for us, the next episode will be worth the wait!
