Where did all the Open Minds Forum members go?

Fri Oct 19, 2012 12:29 pm by Admin

With Open Minds Forum restored now for almost half a year at it's new location with forumotion.com we can now turn to look at reaching out to OMF's original members who have not yet returned home. OMF's original membership was over 6,000 members strong, prior to the proboards suspension, according to the rolls of the time. We can probably safely assume that some of those accounts were unidentified socks. If we were to assume a reasonable guess of maybe as many as 30% possible sock accounts then that would leave potentially somewhere between 4800 to 4900 possible real members to locate. That is still a substantial number of people.

Who were all these people? Some were average individuals with common interests in ufology, exopolitics, globalism, corruption, earthchanges, science and technology, and a variety of other interests. Some just enjoyed being part of a vibrant and unusually interesting community. Others were representative of various insider groups participating in observation and outreach projects, while still others were bonafide intelligence community personnel. All with stake in the hunt for truth in one fashion or another. Some in support of truth, and communication. Others seeking real disclosure and forms of proof. And others highly skeptical of anything or limited subjects. The smallest division of membership being wholly anti-disclosure oriented.

So where did these members vanish to? They had many options. There are almost innumerable other forums out there on the topics of UFO's or Exopolitics, the Unexplained, and Conspiracy Theory. Did they disappear into the world-wide network of forum inhabitants? Did some go find new homes on chatrooms or individual blogs? Did they participate in ufo conventions or other public events and gatherings? How about those who represented groups in special access? Or IC and military observers? Those with academic affiliations? Where did they all go and what would be the best way to reach out and extend an invitation to return?

And what constitutes a situation deserving of their time and participation? Is the archive enough? How exactly do people within the paradigm most desire to define a community? Is it amenities, humanity or simply population size for exposure? Most of the special guests have been emailed and have expressed that population size for exposure is what most motivates them. But not all. Long-time member Dan Smith has other priorities and values motivating his participation. Should this open opportunities for unattached junior guests who have experience and dialog to contribute to the world? How best to make use of OMF's time, experience and resources?

Many skeptics would like to see the historical guardian of discourse opportunity to just up and disappear; go into permanent stasis. They think that not everyone has a right to speak about their experiences and if there is no proof involved then there can philosophically be no value to discourse. I personally would respectfully disagree with them. Discourse has always been the prelude to meaningful relationships and meaningful mutual relationships have always been the prelude to exchanges of proof. In a contentious social environment with regards to communication vs disclosure how do we best re-establish a haven for those preludes? Is it only the "if we build it they will come" answer? Well considering OMF has been largely fully functional over the last four or five months this line of reasoning is not necessarily true. So what would be the best way re-establish this? Your suggestions are sought. Please comment.

WK, It's Tuesday here on Kolob. Sorry for the confusion.

There's something about OMF that just makes you want to drop rhymes. I think it has to do with the Goats and Frogs who lurk here. I think Charles Dodgson would have liked it here....with all the portals and rhymes and even a little nonsense here and there. RIP.

I hope Dan didn't get stuck on the other side of a one way portal...

I have tried to engage Dan on the BPW and its similarities to Stoicism and Zen.

I personally think Stoicism is a good next step and then Zen or go direct to Zen to realize Awareness.

I have not nor will I engage in an intellectual discussion of it at length.

I want to give a nod to the BPW and then quickly jump to Zen for how to practically live this awarenss out following the middle way.

It’s all beyond words and the BPW is compatible with not seeking understanding.

This is why I often am joking with the silliness of words to describe Awareness.

Do you really understand the smelly goat, of course you don’t.

I don’t understand what you are experiencing either, but I can compare mine with others’

“Leibniz accepts a roughly Cartesian, albeit non-interactionist dualism, which he does not. In fact, Leibniz is justly famous for his critiques, not only of materialism, but also of such a dualism. Whether Leibniz accepts, throughout his maturity, the idealistic view that all substances are simple unextended substances or monads is an important interpretive issue that has been discussed widely in recent years.”

    https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/leibniz-mind/

Fa-tsang has a round philosophy embodied in the middle way very similar to BPW.

I have always felt a deep synchronicity between the BPW and Zen.

Not intellectual Zen, gnosis based Zen.

I pick up where Dan stops.

Monad, god, salvation no longer are needed.

It just has to be realized personally after much or little intellectual exploration where you are now.

We could have covered this 2 years ago and even created our own kind of boot camp to take people through.

People here who could help with this are wasting time on BPW and Disclosure, shrug, you and I have to let our views go and accept things as they are.

Tough to do in a world of appearances.

Please don't use things I post to reinforce something you have to say.

I try to be all inclusive. The word is a critic, and though some may say other wise, I am indeed in this world.

I thought Smiley posted that. Sorry whoknows. Probably didn't have my glasses on and misread the name.

IOW's, I was commenting on a post I thought was Smiley's and it was Smiley that I was talking to. But just now I'm finding out it was your post, not Smiley's!

Strange, this is the first time I've ever goofed up like that. lol

I like what Smelly said...Monad, god, salvation, none of that is really necessary.

Just human stories of the cosmic unknown.

    Let go of understanding.

All we really have is the here and now.

It's as simple as your breath.

The best possible world might become the perfect world if everyone just stopped running in circles and started living for today.

Then they will come and take you away.

This 'living in the here and now' sure seems to come with a lot of rules and dictates on how you should be.

A lot of things you're not allowed to be curious about.

A lot of people constantly telling you they know better...

Sometimes sounds like a fascist police state of the mind.

Any rules are meant as Initiation to test your commitment.

How bad do you want the Truth?

    Civilization is a great idol.

    The greatest sham.

And we are smack dab in the middle of the beast’s belly.

I can give it to anyone straight.

It’s terminal. You die maybe right NOW.

I am smelly to test those who would look beyond appearances to Self.

Experimenting on how to relate what is beyond words to some fun effect.

It takes work to counter the years of conditioning.

And it takes practice everyday to counter the illusions of sensual life.

I do not run from the world anymore, personally, I am fully engaged mostly doing my best.

    What else can you do?

And then sometimes someone can free themselves in a flash.

But maybe we can all agree, we are all full of shit.

If you can’t, you are REALLY full of it Wink

So ask me what I know, don’t know
So ask me where to go, nowhere
So ask me what to do, do not doing
So ask me where we are, here now
I will die and be utterly destroyed
As I was brought to be, in a flash of light
Still, whatever I do, I do the best I can
    Not needing anything
    But finding everything

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law
Love is the Law. Love under will

Tell me a story and I’ll call you a pretender until you remember you are playing make believe, then go do whatever you like from true will.

Have respect and show humility before your Self.

After all these smelly words, I will say I see miracles every day that make me laugh at Cartesian dualism as such a silly joke. If you wonder why I am non stop, I’m leaving nothing on the table, judge me and judge yourself a muppet, because we are all muppets in the end, some of us though can pull our own strings.

Life has no rules, only cause and effect. Do what though wilt and life will teach you what you need. If you are curious about something feel free to explore that. Curiosity does not contradict living for today.

The best way to learn is from life itself, so pay no attention to me. I’m just here talking to myself and learning about myself. I have nothing to sell. I like the sound of Clair de Lune on the piano and I simply enjoy offering that composition for others to sample.

If it isn’t your cup of tea then you can ignore me.

I have curiosities just like anyone. It was my curiosity of portals that led me to an understanding in the first place.

Ack you have a beautiful family.

    Give them your best.

I really feel home is everything and an attachment worthy of our time.

Home can become everywhere and everyone if you expand your personal view.

Imagine that world and it might come to be if enough do.

That’s really what Dan was on about.

Maybe he will retire now, he earned some time in the Garden, but he can’t stop anymore than I can I bet.

A serenade to my Northern Hemisphere kinfolk from my Antipodean sister:

Does this have anything to do with the BPWH?

No idea. And Dan won't- or can't - explain it to me in a sentence or paragraph (He finds it 'boring').

So how can I be "changed by just a song"???

I can explain any philosophy or hypothesis I'm familiar with in a sentence or paragraph.

Can ANYONE else explain the BPWH in a sentence or paragraph?

Maybe we have a case here, of 'The Emperor's New Clothes'...

I’m on a trip with RAK.  Just tourists out of the country.  We’ll  be back in about a week....

The BPW is actually the only possible world, when you stop to think about it.

It’s small and personal.  There are satellite worlds and the hive, but this is where all the action is focused.

Free will is a crock. We have free will with our imagination.

    Sign's already said it.

It kinda comes down to nature vs nurture.

Sometime though, we do find commonality.

But in the end the "Best possible universal hypothesis" is the best possible you. What ever that might be.

One of my favorite sayings. I like who I'm becoming. If I become aware of something I'm not pleased with, I endeavor to change it. Any other kind of "Free will may be an act of our forcing our concept of free on others. Which I fear is what is happening most of the time.
