There is no truth, says smelly.
Well, actually, he only states that there is no truth that one can hold.
Ok, truth is not an object.
In fact, there are no objects, I claim. So, once again, smelly and the chicken are on the same side.
If there is no truth, then what is there?
smelly and the chicken both verge upon nihilism....... everything is an illusion.
Descartes pointed out, for the advent of modernism, that there was, at least, the perceiver of the illusion.
Neither s nor c go even that far.
We agree that our selves are the ultimate illusion.
There are no selves.
It is only at this point that we often part company.
Knowing the way doesn’t/Ensure one will win their game.
smelly is prone to making off the wall comments like this.
He is wont to throw his pet peeves/assumptions against the wall, just to see if anything sticks.
smelly wants to play a game, and I’m flattered to think that I’m his favorite antagonist, even though I believe that antagonism is just another illusion, popular though this particular illusion may be.
8:40.........
smelly believes in many persons. I believe in just one.
This is how I deal with the problem of evil and hell, in the best possible world. Evil is a relative illusion.... it exists only in support of the good.
11.........
The commonalities between persons far outweigh our differences, most of which can be chalked up to culture.
Of course, there are genetic differences....... gender, race, etc....... but the Monad is indeed a melting pot.
One could argue that there is too much or too little diversity. The chicken humbly suggests that this will turn out to be the BPW.
Better and worse worlds are relegated to our imagination. This is what imagination is for. If individual freedom is your highest priority, take solace in your imagination....... some find it far richer than our so-called reality.
Scientific materialism can speak only to quantities. The robustness of the qualities that make up our world........ were I a materialist, it would be an embarrassment of riches.
Materialists must have very thick hides...... very hard to embarrass. It’s hard to imagine.
I just find it much easier to explain quantity from quality, rather than having to go at it the other way.
In the end, I’m a fan of truth. In the end, the so-called truth of science left me rather underwhelmed. It left me hungry for coherence and meaning. Once you’ve tasted coherence, it’s hard to be satisfied with mere facts. Folks can argue that we should not entertain hope.
If truth be told, they cannot abide hope, and wish to impose their dreariness on the rest of us. They can imagine none other.
