Next year may turn out to be spectacular for both Astronomers and casual stargazers alike. If all goes according to recent predictions 2 bright comets will light up the night skies. One of them may even be visible during the day being the brightest in recorded history ! I'll save the best for last.

Comet PANSTARRS - This one will be viewable for most Northern hemisphere observers and should be about as bright as some of the planets. It should easily be observable with your eyes only but binoculars or a telescope at times will provide even better views. Look for it sometime between February - April of 2013 in the Western skies. More updates will follow as time draws near .

Comet ISON - If all goes according to predictions and the comet doesn't disintegrate during it's closest approach to the sun (perihelion) like many do,this one MAY BECOME THE BRIGHTEST IN HISTORY during the latter part of 2013 ! I do want to emphasize however that comets are unpredictable and odds at the moment are 50/50 whether or not it holds up. This one may be a daytime object and when it is out during the night may be an awesome display. I'm hoping it does but time will tell with both of these.
Enjoy ( hopefully ) !
