So we really have no idea how many views the threads are getting. I believe this needs changing for sure.

I've noticed recently that anytime you view a thread "Without" being logged on the view count never changes. I would say most people that visit never log in. They are lurkers or some members who don't log in every time.

It appears all the other threads are doing fine except Dans thread...."Hello, Cy, hello, OMF II" and "The Bible, UFOs, ET and the Ancients Part 3".
Strange!! It may have something to do with a thread reaching 10,000 views. I noticed this started in The Bible, UFOs, ET and the Ancients Part 3 thread as soon as the 10,000 views mark was reached.

Yes it has bothered me that this forum does not display the amount of people viewing a thread. Any thread. Virtually all other forums do this. Anyone can usually see how many are viewing any thread. But this forum software does not display this.
I have spent many hours on numerous occasions, trying to tweak the admin functions to make this functional display.
Wasted hours in vain. Forumotion's software is lacking.
I have given up trying.

In my opinion the forum needs a lot of work done on it. Some of the text is almost impossible to view. It needs bad a lighter color for some of the text--example(Forum,Topics,Post,Last Post). With the dark grey background it blends in.
Really the whole color scheme needs reworking. The Special Guests Board is an area that needs deleting most of the guest out....."If they aren't returning." It's been months now and time to move forward.
In my opinion a more compact forum with less is much better than areas no longer being used....."Cut the fat, it will look so much better and bring a new fresh appeal to the forum." Be a "New OMF" not an Old OMF".
There's no real point in scrolling for miles on the front web page.
I hope I didn't step on anyone's toes, that was not my intent at all. Just some feedback I believe could make the forum better.

We'll talk about it and see what we can do.

I know it can be hard to let go of the past, but changes need to be made. Anyone who has been around for a while can see this isn't working. Don't attempt to live in the past, live for the now.

Hi ScarRZ,
I happen to agree. However I won't have time to get to it until after lambing season, probably sometime in June. This is my busy season at the moment and since it is not exactly an emergency. But yes it does need a good deal of revamping.
The color scheme while it was novel for a year, I find the pink and purple thing hard on my eyes. It wouldn't surprise me if others have the same experience. We have some options to work with. The one part that is difficult is the identity of each section of titles etc.

Thank you Admin (Cy) for your reply. I agree the pink and purple aren't easy on the eyes. Colors fading into other colors is a big problem as well.

agreed. Do you have a color scheme preference by any chance?

I'm more of a Black+Silver+White person as the main layout. They look great and are easy on the eyes. The color Gold mixes well also with them as a Text color in the Black. Then the use of Blue looks great as text color in the Silver. You just don't want a light Blue color.

No Mur I didn't notice that. That peculiar forum wasn't my style. Nor was the quality of IC that frequented it.

Ok Guys, how's this work?
Its a funky'fied deal with the colors as some of the colors are doing double duty so there's quite a bit of wrangling to get those that do to work on the partnered parts.

Thank you Cy for all the hard work you've put into the forum.
Good job in cutting some of the fat off of the front page.
I don't have any idea what colors you can use in certain areas. The #1 thing would be if you can use a different "Blue" with the text it will look much better than the light blue. The light blue washes into the grey/silver and blue violet.
You will just need to play with the colors some when you have some free time and it will look very good in no time. The yellow text on black looks great. Never use a dark on dark or light on light is really the key.

You've done a fair bit today, Cy. And it looks to be on the right track.
ScaRZ comments are good. BTW ScaRZ is an artist in case you didn't know. I would think he has a good sense with colors.
It took at lot of trial and error to get the original forum to a place that worked well and was appreciated by professionals.
The Logo Banner.... I couldn't access the original forum while in China because it was blacklisted. Why? Luci-Anarchy. So I think it best we use a different Logo.
One of the original ones would be good. We had several that were designed by one of our members. They would be in the archive. They would display on different boards. And they were perfectly sized for a forum. However I'm not too experienced in extracting HTLMs from forum script. Perhaps someone could help out with that.

Thanks guys,
One of the problems I have with this forum is that the block of blue on your right is the same as some of the text such as the blue under "similar topics" and the blue in the thread title above each post.
It is like that in several areas not just the blue so getting it to 'work' is complicated. This was as close as I could get it at the moment so it didn't wash out in other areas.

@jake If you can direct me to where the logos are that you've mentioned I'll have a shot at extracting them and uploading them to the forum in the images section

Wow! I'm with MD02,the Logo is awesome. The tweaks done to the board look fantastic...."Great work Cy." If you could darken the Gray/Silver a little more the Light Blue will pop out and look terrific. It will also help with the White as the main text.

The art work is:
Ghost Ship Series
Full Moon Rising
by George Grie
neosurrealismart.com
I have been trying to figure where I could put a promo/attribution on our page for him as I really like his artwork. He had it listed in the public on a free background site to help get his name out there like a lot of new artists do. I've also wondered if he sells any prints. I'd love to have one to hang on the wall here at home but I'd want a large sized one I could choose the frame for.

I know one thing, this color scheme is way easier on the eyes and brain. The other with the fluorescent pink was giving me a headache every time I signed on and stayed longer than few minutes.
